I confess, I'm horrible with estimating. I can't ever tell how old someone is, I have no notion of whether that tree is 50 feet or 50 yards away, and I regularly make recipes that end up with enough food for 6 people, not 2.

This, though... is out of control.

I ordered some tahina/tahini from Amazon because I have looked at every single store in this town and nobody has it, and I want to try making my own hummus. I had a book I wanted to get and the book + the tahini was enough to get me free shipping, woo!

I just opened the box with the tahini and oh. my. gosh. It has TWO jars that are TWO POUNDS EACH. Considering most hummus recipes only call for a couple of tablespoons of tahini...... Either this stuff is going to last forever, or we'll be eating hummus every day for the next year. I feel like a moron. Whoops... I hope DH likes hummus!!

haha, oops!  That's too funny.  I'm not sure if you'd like this, but on occasion I've enjoyed tahini spread on plain rice crackers.  Healthy snack.  Way to use your tahini supply.

Either that or you'll be giving away jars of hummus as Christmas presents!

Our tahini lasted in the fridge for a while, a couple of months I think! It was a good excuse to make hummus more often in order to use it up.

One recommendation: so that you don''t get bored of the hummus, try different types of flavors! We've made regular hummus before, roasted red pepper hummus, black olive hummus, and even basil hummus! Experiment with different flavors that you love! That way you can use it up without getting sick of orignal-hummus flavor :]
