April was not our first choice.  We considered all the events that would take place in the town where we're getting married in.  It's where we went to college and you can imagine cultural events, sporting events and everything else.  We got engaged on New Year's Day 2009 and originally thought of October 2009 but that would have been a month after being in another wedding and the month before my birthday and so close to Christmas.  I didn't want a winter wedding because I really want to show off my dress without freezing so April it was!  Then we had to narrow down the weekend in April.  At the time, I didn't realize it was the day before Easter.

April is peak bloom season for the cherry blossoms in Washington, DC.  I always dreamed of getting married under the symbol of spring and new beginnings...plus, I love Spring! :)

April was actualy our 4th and last choice. I wanted to get married on a Saturday @ 2:30 pm, don't know why it just was what popped into my head after we got engaged. So, my FH and I looked at every Saturday in 2009. We decided October because it was kinda close and would still be warm enough to get married at the park, like I've always wanted to. Then we thought about it and realized we didn't have the money to have the wedding we wanted. So my dad offered that if we waited until after he got his tax check he'd pay for everything. So, I thought about February 2nd, 2010 (our anniversary and my dream wedding date!) but it wasn't a saturday and my dad said he wouldn't have his tax check that early, dreams squashed! Then we all settled on Sat, March 27th, 2010, which was great because it was my grandma's b-day. Everything was being planned for that day and then of course my sister/ maid of honor's boss refused to give her that weekend off! I was so angry, I was ready to go all the way to Missouri to strangle him! ( I live in Indiana) So then we was told that she could have April 24th off and we went with that!

We had originally planned the first week in September (2010) but soon found all of the places were booked (I started calling in October 2009). I suppose it didn't help that it's Labor Day weekend, LOL. My fiance was all for moving it up and asked me how soon could I plan it. I've always wanted to be an event planner so I was more than up for the challenge. We selected 4/17/10 because: it'll be exactly 8 months to the day we started dating, 8 is my favorite number & 17 is his favorite number and it's the birthday of my late grandmother. That's 3 different reasons AND 3 is his OTHER favorite number! : )
