I dont get it?? WHY be someone you arent on your wedding day? Obviously this isnt you all the time, so why lose weight when you're more than likely going to gain it back after the wedding?? In my opinion it adds more stress to your plate than you need... I know i am not a happy person when Im hungry, so I cant imagine being on a strict diet... Just seems crazy to me.. Its not like your fiance doesnt like you the way you are since he asked you to marry him.... and often the diets are unhealthy which means you will probably gain even more weight back since you lost it the wrong way....

I think a wedding is a good motivator...alot of ppl have good intentions to lose weight all the time...but when it comes to someones wedding, brides want to look their best knowing all eyes are on them...so it's that extra "push" that ppl need...

I'm trying to lose weight b/c I'm an idiot who bought her dress a bit too small..stupid.stupid.stupid. But it's not really trying to lose a ton...just an inch off my waist and 1/2 off my hips...not a huge change.

Actually excersicing can help reduce your stress, it can help you have more energy to keep on planning.

Now if you are a morbedly obese person you are right-you cannot force yourself to be skinny. But it does help you be healthy; why not start your new life as a newly wed on a possitive note to live a LONG and HEALTHY life.

Pictures are FOREVER! I am not fat-But I do want to look super hot and toned for my wedding. I want to feel confident to wear that tight Mermaid dress :)

my three cents.

I understand where you are coming from.  I think its definately a "womans" stress, because I doubt the men are worried about slimming down for the big day.  I just think we naturally want to look our best on such a huge occasion.  I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to look and feel like a princess on your wedding day.  I think there are those that do it the right and healthy way and then there are those that take it to extremes.  I personally want to look back at my pics and not regret how I look, so I am exercising a little more, but I am not depriving myself of food.

Well I know for me personally I have been wanting to lose weight for a while and have been struggling but the wedding has really motivated me. After I quit my job I gained a bit too much from being so depressed so I'm doing it more for me not the wedding. The wedding just inspires me to keep at it. Mine will be a lifestyle change not just a change till the day...

I think there's this preconceived notion that you have to look your absolute best on your wedding day.  I've been "trying to lose weight" for the past 4 years, and by trying I mean eating everything I want and sitting on my a** watching T.V. all night.  I do want to get in a little better shape, but I don't care if it's in time for the "big day", just so long as I get to a place where I don't feel so..."bleh".  KWIM?

Honestly, I disagree w/dieting altogether. I believe in making a healthy life style change and right now my motivation is the wedding. I want to look my best, be healthy and maintain this lifestyle LONG AFTER the wedding. For the last 5 years I've completely disregarded my health b/c I was too focused on going to school and my career..now is the time to focus on getting healthier. That said, my fiance also wants to be in tip top shape for the wedding.

I also don't think anyone doesn't want to look like themselves on their wedding day. I think they want to look the best that they can - and if that means eating a salad once in awhile or cutting soda out of their daily beverage consumption then so be it.

one of my good gf's idea of a wedding diet was swaping out wine for a vodka soda...that was it! LOL!

Personally, for me I gained weight over a year so who I was then just wasn't me. So basically I just wanted to be myself again. Also my diet was completely healthy it consisted of knowing how many calories I was eating and exercise. No food was off limits, minus maybe bubble tea :).
