I have been going back and forth on different ideas to give as a winter wedding favor.

I really want to do something that is DIY because it is usually cheaper and you get the pride in telling everyone you did it! :) I have been going photo

One of my ideas was doing a handmade jar of cookie ingredients. But I am not sure how much that would cost in the end and how much I would need.

I also thought about mitten favors saying "Thanks for your warmth and love"

But i am not that crafty to make that many mittens.. and what can you really do with the mittens afterwards? Not much. haha

If you guys have any other ideas please share! I am soo open to many neat ideas! :)

Thanks!

What about an ornimant?

My co-worked made them for our last christmas party and they were so cute and actually easy!  She used the smaller clear ones, and put stuff inside to decorate in our colors, and just wrote our names and date on the outside- now that I think of it I think they were our placecards too!

There you go- two birds one stone :)

I'll keep thinking though....

I was going to suggest the ornament as well, with the duel purpose of the placecard setting. They have clear ones that you can insert your own photo or piece of paper in that would not be too difficult.

I could see who buying all of the cookie ingredients would get expensive. And you'd have to be precise on the proportions too... otherwise the cookies wouldn't turn out right.

I Google searched "winter wedding favor" and a lot of snowflakey candles and candle holders came up. So, that's one option.

How about making small jars of homemade jam? Talk to your friends and family and see if anyone has fruit trees. My parent's plum and apricot trees are all ripening right now... heck, if you're in the Bay Area, I'm sure they'd let you pick from their trees. They have too many! You could create a custom label too. I've also seen these done with fabric wraped across the top of the lid.

Or honey with a more winter styled tag:

Or, a little jar of hot cocoa? This image is cute as it looks like the jar has a scarf on. You could put some mini marshmellows at the top too.

This was kinda cool too. Pine tree or redwood sapplings. I have absolutely no idea where you could get them.

Bath salts made to look like a snow cone:

I'll post more if I can find them.

Wow, GREAT finds abattyref! I like the tree idea, especially how they displayed them, the hot cocoa idea and the jam.  Makes me want to have a winter wedding, ha ha! ;)

I hate to be discouraging, but I have done layered bread jars and layered cocoa jars for Christmas gifts before, and unfortunately, they don't always save you a bundle of money.  They are fantastic gifts, and fun to present, but the cost of the jars and ingredients do add up.  Maybe if you buy in massive bulk quantities it would be less?

(I've used mason jars and jars from IKEA, and used ingredients I bought at the grocery store.)

It is also fairly labor intensive, so you'll have to gauge based on how many you'll need to make, and how much time you have on your hands...

With the cocoa jars, I added TJ's chocolate covered peppermint stirring sticks tied to the top of the jars.

Thanks for all of your input! :)  All of your ideas are really getting me excited and thinking!

I have thought about the ornament idea as well.. but I am not sure if it would be strange since it is at the end of January.. and everyone has put away their x-mas decorations already. hmmm??

The jam would be a really neat idea as well! It could get pricey too.. and I live in Ohio.. so all i know is cherry trees and apple trees haha! I'd have to look into how to make jam ... see how hard it may be.

I really LOVE the hot cocoa idea! That is so cute! I love the little ribbon and what not! Where did you find that idea? I wonder where I could get cute little bottles like that!

Again.. thanks for all your input! :)
