hey ladies!  I've been lurking here for a while.....Anyway!

My DH and I have a possible name picked out for our baby girl (due Sept 20!!)......Penelope Rose......  It's the top of a very short list and pretty much the only thing we've fully agreed on thus far.  But now we're worried that because what's-her-face Kardashian named her baby Penelope, it's going to skyrocket into popularity and a big reason we liked the name so much was how uncommon it is.

I know it's silly to get worked up over what a celebrity names her baby and nobody in our family is really going to care or even know enough to make that connection.  But it kind of makes it harder to commit to this name now.

are we crazy?  would you change names or just say to hell with it?

Hmm...that's a tough one. Her son's name is Mason and whereas I dont think it was that popular a few years ago - it's now on the top 10 list for boy's names. BUT I think Penelope is such a sweet name and if you really love it then I say to hell with it and name your daughter that :)

I say heck with the Kardashians and name your LO any old thing you want! Really any name you pick runs a chance of having that happen...today's unique name is tomorrow's top 10 contender! I say go with your gut and if both you and DH love the name than go for it!

I didn't even know she named her Penelope...guess I'm not up on my Kardashian trivia.  :)  Than again...I bet the rest of the world isn't either.  Why do people like them anyway?? I don't get it.  

Name your little one whatever you want to.  And if anything, she can choose to go by her middle name if she has a lot of Penelopes in her classes in school.

We're naming out daugher Olivia Annalee, and Olivia is the number one name on the baby name list this year (although we are naming her after my grandmother so it doesn't seem fair at all).  We figured she could always go by Annalee if she has a lot of classmates with that name.
