Well it was quite a ride but she's finally here and worth every second I waited <3

Monday afternoon I was scheduled for a standard NST to check on Harper to see how she was doing seeing as though I was just shy of 42 weeks. Although she didn't fail the test, it wasn't perfect so my Dr and I decided that there was nothing
to be gained by waiting until Wed night to induce so off to the hospital I went. My husband left his mail route and met me there about an hour and half later.
My induction started Monday evening and we tried an oral med and then a vaginal insert first. My contractions were one on top of another but by 11am Tuesday I was still 1 cm dialated...sigh. At 2:00pm they inserted a Cook catheter
(which manually dialates you...yes it's as painful as it sounds) and I went from 1cm to 6.5 in 4 hours. They broke my water and gave me a shot of nubaine and let me labor on my own for a bit hoping that my I would continue to dialate on my own
but it just didn't seem to be happening. At that point I had only been able to labor laying on my right side as any other position would cause Harper's heart rate to take a drastic dive and because she didn't seem to be tolerating labor in
general they were very hesatant to give me any sort of pitocin that would crank up my contractions. After a few more hours of laboring on my own I was still only 7 cm and still had quite a ways to go not to mention pushing, which my Dr was really
afraid she wasn't going to tolerate based on the fluxuations her heart rate had been taking so far. Taking everything into consideration we decided to go ahead with a c-section. Although I had wanted to avoid that at all costs, at the end
of the day my goal was "Healthy baby, healthy mom" and I would rather go ahead with a controled c-section rather than continue to try to deliver vaginally and end up in an emergency situation should her heart rate take a turn for the worse
again.
The c-section was not nearly as bad as I had thought it would be and my recovery has gone amazingly well, we're actually leaving today!! We're all still getting to know each other but so far this whole mommy thing is pretty darn amazing
:)
