I didn't even know I was as high weight-wise as I was! I went to the Dr on Friday and she says, "hey you lost 13 pounds! You are at 141 lbs!" I was happy at first but then disappointment set in I was at 154 lbs? When!?- I thought if I lost 13 pounds I'd be at 136! boo!

On the plus side, I dont have to suck in and stop breathing to get rid of the little belly bump I had the last time I tried on my dress! Lol. All in perspective I guess.

The trick now is to stick with the workout routine and not fall off the wagon after the honeymoon... Willpower, rev your engine!!

:) Happy Monday everyone!

Awesome, congratulations! Whats your diet/exercise plan?

08/11/2008 at 03:38 pm

I started doing 5 days a week exercise; 15-20 min on the elliptical at work at lunch followed by 15-20 min of some light weights (triceps, biceps, chest, back and abs one day & squats, leg, lifts, calves and abs the next.)

Food-wise I stopped drinking so much soda (only like one or 2 every few days) and no alcohol really (maybe a beer or something once a week, if that) I started splitting up my meals too, so small breakfast and then fruit or something as a snack, lunch would be just a sandwich and maybe some veggies, followed by an afternoon snack of whatever the rest of my lunch usually is (I learned that you DONT eat the tuna sandwich right before the work out though. That was not good!) At dinner, I started using the little plate and then having a mini salad. I didn't cut my calories back too much, Im still at like 1500 a day, but I broke it up and stopped taking FI's junk food for lunch, because I would end up snacking all day long on empty calories.

blah. It's been hard to stick to the food part since I looooove sugar!

Oh good job! That is a lot to lose!

I LOVE SUGAR also. When I diet the main thing I want to do is stuff my face with cake! I also use tiny plates and bowls when I eat. I have 5 lbs to lose before my wedding sept 09 so I still have lots of time. I love eating with my miniature spoons, they help so much when I am eating because it makes you take time while you are eating something since it takes 20 min for your brain to realize that you are full. Great job again!

Ugh, I've come to the conclusion that I need to lose weight. I took a good look in the mirror and realized that i look as if I"m pregnant. Which I don't mind, but I'm not at that stage yet!!!  I have 2 days to go for my first fitting and 2 months till the wedding...Does anyone think I have a chance of losing at least 10lbs????  HELP!!!

Cool! Good for you. Keep up the great work! I lost about 30lbs since Feb. and I use to be 160 and I'm only 5'2 now I'm 132. 2 weeks ago I broke out on my face really bad, so I stopped eating fried or oily foods, and my face cleared. But I lost about 5 more lbs. I freaked out becuz my dress was a little loose. SO I decided to pig out one weekend and now I have a lil pot belly ! GREAT! Now I've gotta work out extra hard to loose it again! Dieting sucks!

nyckittie- I think its totally do-able. I lost mine in about that much time. The hardest part is setting up the routine and sticking to it. I finally realized that Im just not a morning person so I had to be realistic and decided that a lunch workout is really my best workout.

Quit drinking soda if you usually do, or cut down by a lot- I only have one every 3 or 4 days and I really am at the point I dont even want one that often anymore. That and fried foods, limit as much as possible. Im all for convenience so instead of Burger King Im going to Subway or getting a pre-prepped salad from the grocery store. Stagger your meals to help speed up your metabolism (ie: smaller breakfast lunch & dinner and stick a nice sized snack in between like veggies and low fat dip or strawberries and some laughing cow cheese- im telling you, its good!) If you are interested in calorie counting, I used Sparkpeople.com for a while and it helped give me an idea of what certain things are- Just beware of obsessing over each and every calorie, it gets exhausting. Dont go under 1200 calories per day, thats pretty much the cut off for your body to interpret it as starvation mode and it'll just hang on the the calories it does get, especially your are working out. You should also be drinking about 8oz of water for every 20 pounds during the day.

If you can get even 15 minutes more cardio than you usually do at least 3 days a week, you will see a difference. Aim for 20-30 min if you can.

Thanks pinkyjane, I needed some other person's encouragement. My FI says it should be no sweat but it's easy for a guy to say it because they can drop off a few pounds just by thinking about it! LOL. I just need to get my lazy butt to the gym (btw, I have a membership to a gym) and start sweating. I just want to lose enough where the dress zips up easily and I'll have room to spare when it's time to eat..Maybe I'll put a "decoy" pic of my dress on the fridge door for motivation.

Pinky - congrats on the weight loss!  Don't be so hard on yourself, you are on the right track.  Keep it up and you'll attain your goal!

NYC - you can most def do it.  I started working out hard 6 months before but then I lost momentum.  All the planning and travel dragged me down and I got side tracked.  When I looked at my bachlorette pics six weeks before my wedding, i wanted to puke!  I looked so bloated.  So I worked out with a trainer 5x a week and cut back on my portions.  I also limited my alcohol and soda intake.   I tried to cut out all fried foods - no french fries, no burgers.  But other than that, I didn't deprive myself too much.  I still ate sweets and cookies.  It's all in moderation plus weight training and cardio.

My DOC kept telling me that the week before the weight magically falls off and that's exactly what happened.  I kept losing weight even a week after the wedding!  So the Sunday after the wedding we ate at Inn N Out.  I deserved it!!!  ahhahh!

Good luck!
