I haven't tried any because the shades never match up with my skintone, but if you're looking for something that has skincare benefits, you can look into BB creams.  Skin79 has gotten good reviews (the gold, pink, and orange package ones), but beware that the shades tend to have a greycast.  Since I have a warmer undertone, it really wouldn't work for me.  You can check out YouTube for some live swatches and reviews.

Neutrogena also has some foundations that have some skincare benefits.  But I also haven't tried those.

What foundation looks good may be determined by your skintype.

I have normal/combo skin, with hyperpigmentation and redness to cover, so I like something with good coverage. I've been rotating 3 foundations daily.

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation- (Drugstore Dupe: Revlon Photo Ready Foundation) This has medium coverage, and has a satin finish. You can build the coverage of this foundation to cover up discoloration. I would use a concealer as well. The MUFE has better coverage than the Revlon, but the Revlon is about $30 cheaper.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour Fuller Coverage Foundation- This is a full coverage foudation, but it doesn't feel heavy on my skin. This has a matte finish.

I also like the Make Up Forever HD!!  It is pricey, but it's the best I have found :)

I just started using the bb cream from Smashbox....tried Bare Minerals...hated it....settles into pores and makes them look HUGE! Not to mention looking gray in photos!

Just as SanFran said my foundation of choice is also MUFE HD foundation!  If you look at the reviews on Sephora, this is enough to already understand how amazing this foundation is. It's the number one traditional foundation that I would use on my bridal clients because:

  • Medium to full coverage- it's completely buildable
  • light weight
  • Many shades to choose from (one of the toughest things about foundations is not being able to get the right shade, some amazing brands, such as HourGlass have a wonderful formulation for their foundation, however, they only have about 8 shades, making it difficult to cater to everyone's needs)
  • Cost Efficient:  $40 may seem steep, but this foundation will last a long time and comes in an easy to use and clean up pumped bottle
  • Best Seller- it's been tested and used by 1000s of people and I really just can't compain!
I swear, I don't work for MUFE LOL :) but I do LOVEEEE this foundation!
For concealer, I also recommend trying the MUFE full cover concealer! This is light weight and also WATER resistent and it is truly full cover! For something a bit lighter Laura Mercier has a Secret Camoflauge kit that also includes powder :)!

I have the same needs as you do: I have acne scaring that I need to mask without looking, well, masked.

I just Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15.

When I wear it, it keeps on for a good 6-8 hours albeit the powder needs a little top up. Underneath that I'm using Mac's prep & prime silicone base, which helps keep the foundation in place. On top I'm using Mac's translucent powder, which REALLY fixes the foundation.

Bare Minerals is awesome. I have some that I use for special occassions and to me, it stands the test of time. MAC is my everyday makeup, it has great coverage.
