My experience at David's Bridal in Schaumburg was less than desirable. I purchased my bridesmaid and flowergirl gown here and this was, unfortunately, a very bad experience. I was not able to accompany all of my bridesmaid's to the store when they went to get their gowns ordered, and the staff members had the girls trying on the incorrect styles of dresses. Luckily, my bridesmaid had seen a picture of the gown and was able to point out the error. I also had issues with staff members at the store confusing my color selections. We had ordered sashes to accompany all of the gowns, and one of the sashes came in just two days before the wedding, due to an error of the store. I had to go in at least 6 times to correct mistakes and ensure the accuracy of the order we placed. At the end everyone had the correct dresses and looked beautiful. I chose David's Bridal, after all, because they had the perfect, unique gown that I had envisioned my girl's wearing- at a price I felt comfortable asking them to pay. Although the staff's performance was unorganized and inefficient, I do commend the management for their efforts in correcting the issues. It should not, however, have ever gotten so mixed up in the first place!

All the women in my wedding party received hair services at HIP Salon in Schaumburg, the day of the wedding. We had an awesome experience. Even with a couple of people in my wedding party arriving late, and a few changing their mind to styles that took much longer than we had booked for, the salon was SO accommodating. They did whatever we asked, without hesitation. With such a big party, we pretty much took over the salon and they were very cool about it. We had snacks and champagne and the salon staff made it a very celebratory atmosphere. Every single one of the girls’ hair looked gorgeous- and they were happy with it too, which was very important to me. My mom and I had our makeup done by Cyndie, and we had no changes to the makeup when she finished—it was perfect the first time. Jennifer did my hair half up and half down- and she styled it exactly how I pictured it when I was a little girl. Jimmy styled all of the girls that had blow outs (including my mother)- it was fabulous. My mom said she had never felt more beautiful.

We purchased all of our wedding jewelry from Nelson’s Jeweler which included my engagement ring, two wedding bands, and a watch I got my husband as a wedding gift. My husband and I had gone into the store to look at rings and found a couple that we really liked. There was one that I definitely liked the best (and luckily that was the one I got)! My husband actually ended up purchasing the ring when he was away on business in Sweden for 6 weeks. He wanted to make sure it was ready for his proposal when he returned, and he was able to do so because Nelson’s Jewelers was very accommodating and went above and beyond in this sort of strange circumstance. Unfortunately a month after we got married, a defect in my husband’s wedding band became apparent as it was a platinum and white gold band fused together, and they had started to come apart. The jeweler was very quick to agree to replace the ring at no cost to us. The only inconvenience during this time was that it took longer to get the ring back than they said it would. Although it was most certainly a manufacturer’s delay, we would have liked to be kept more in the loop about the timeline. It wasn’t until we called, that we were updated on the status. Otherwise, we were very pleased with their service.

For the eleven tuxedo rentals for our wedding, we chose AfterHours Formalwear. I changed my mind a couple of times in regards to styles and colors and they kept very accurate records of changes. The groomsmen went to a couple different locations and there was continuity among all the records at each store, and the convenience of many locations was appreciated by all the men in the bridal party. On the day of the wedding, all of the tuxes fit perfectly. My only complaint is I would have like to see some sort of a price break with the purchase of eleven rentals. I almost changed my mind because I found another place cheaper (with rentals of more than five tuxedos), but it was too close to the wedding at that point. Luckily, we received the groom’s rental free and won a free tuxedo rental for my father at a bridal expo.

Our overall experience with Pete at Gala Entertainment was good. He played exactly the music I wanted him to on my “must-play” list and he did not play the songs I didn’t want. I loved the fact that he respected my “no” list as I have heard of other DJ’s not complying with this. While this portion of his services was excellent, he forgot to introduce my brother, grandmother, and a bridesmaids/groomsmen couple during the introductions of the bridal party. Based on the amount of time I spent creating the dialogue for him, this was very disappointing for me. We had also planned for a special song to be played as the bridal party left the banquet all, as it was an inside joke that many of the guests were in on, and the song didn’t begin playing until four of the couples had exited so this also made me a bit sad. So- he could have been more on-point during the course of the reception. At the same time, these were silly little mistakes and he was compliant with all our other wishes.

My experience working with Joy and Jim of DeLaere Photography was exceptional! They arrived at the event before we did! They were completely involved in the wedding and kept asking “what else would like us to capture?” Joy and Jim were very personable and creative- they captured moments I would have never thought of. In retrospect, I wished they would have made more suggestions for variations of group and formal photos, or suggested to us to bring along a list of photographs to remember to get. We were a bit overwhelmed with the wedding, and didn’t have the mind-set to remember all of the specific images we had hoped to have of our day. Otherwise, the pricing was phenomenal and the photos themselves were gorgeous.

I ordered matchbooks, champagne flutes, and napkins through now & forever, and I was happy with the product and service. The accessories came exactly as expected, were of a high quality, and arrived quickly. I was in a time crunch- so I was not able to do any price comparisons before I placed my order and they were the first place I saw. Had I had the time to do more research, I found I could’ve gotten similar products for about ½ the price.

I had a short, 3 month engagement, so I bought a dress off the rack at Bride’s By Demetrios. Although I didn’t have enough time to special order a gown, they treated me and my dress like it was designed and sewn just for me. The staff was courteous about calling and keeping in touch with me about fittings. I also ordered my bridal shoes and veil from them and everything arrived in a timely manner. I appreciated that the staff ensured everything was done right the first time because I had no time to spare!

Schaumburg Florist produced floral designs that fit exactly what I had envisioned at a fair and reasonable price. I enjoyed working with the florists personally because they were able to create the concepts that I had imagined- even when I couldn’t describe it in words. My main complaint about working with this florist, was their old-fashioned business practices. All receipts were hand written, and all correspondence was conducted through phone and in-person as opposed to email, which I would have preferred when I was tight on time. It also made me nervous to have hand-written receipts so it took me quite a bit of time to review all the charges and ensure the accuracy of the bill. Overall I was happy with the result as we may have not been able to get such a good price with a florist that, perhaps, had invested more money updating technological systems.

Stonegate Banquet Center was in one word, Amazing! I would absolutely book this venue again in a heartbeat. We held our ceremony in their all- season tent and the reception in the main banquet hall. The staff was professional and courteous throughout the evening- many of our guests commented on the exceptional service and positive demeanor of the wait staff. The management of the venue was flexible and accommodating to our every whim, as I changed my mind about some of the details- which were all executed with perfection. Everything was exactly as I asked & more. Another bonus- we chose a package deal and all “upgrades” were included in price-we didn’t have to worry about any add-ons. Our guests enjoyed the full-service and we didn’t have to worry about being nickel and dimed.
