I'm having a casual rustic farmhouse wedding for 100, so naturally (wink, wink!) I'm having BBQ for the reception! I found Simply Marvelous by searching the web. They seem to traditionally do events for organizations and college campus type events, but they also do weddings.
The price was a tenth (not exaggerating) of what we were going to pay for a fancy caterer. Included in the price is our 6 stationary appetizers, crab cakes, chicken, Santa Maria tri-tip complete with a carving station, 4 sides (salad, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted veggies with rice, and baked beans), ice, two bartenders and plenty of staff to help.
So far I have dealt with Stephen (who I assume is a manager, maybe owner?), but he has always been very easy to work with and is prompt getting back to me with my questions.
Warning: they will do a tasting for you, but it is not what they usually do. I asked to do one and he gave me a hesitant "yes" and then I realized that for their excellent price you get a great BBQ the day of. I think the food will be wonderful!

AFTER WEDDING UPDATE: I am so glad I went with Simply Marvelous! They were top notch! Very professional, and the food was AMAZING!!! Everyone kept talking about how good the food was. The bartenders were great and there were many people on staff to do the clean up (I was worried that maybe we'd have to do it) and I just can't believe how it was so affordable!

This place is cheaper than other rentals in the area. They are also very nice and super helpful. When my FI and I went in for a consultation they already had our wedding venue on their computer system that featured a picture of the way the layout would work in the space (drawn to scale!). They had everything we needed : heaters, dance floor, string of lights, the list could go on for days! At our venue we have to bring EVERYTHING in from a rental company and this place seems great. I keep emailing our great consultant, Glenn, who is very easy to work with and always adds our requests to the list! Since I don't have a planner Glenn has been very helpful with my questions about things like how many glasses per person, and how things work, etc.

I was really nervous to try on dresses and going to Demetrios was my first time shopping for a wedding dress. I really didn't want to be pressured into buying something right off the bat, but I knew I had to start somewhere.
Zita helped me try on dresses, and she was wonderful. She made my sister and I feel very at ease and she was super helpful with trying lots of dresses on. She explained each dress in regards to my body frame and gave me lots of time to try on different styles! I ended up buying a dress just because I did not want to have to do this all over again and I found an excellent dress at a price that was thousands of dollars less than I thought I would have to shell out!!! They were also having a sale and I got 20% off! Zita was so nice! This is a great place for nervous brides who don't want to feel pressured or unwelcome!

UPDATE: I was called only a couple weeks after I purchased my dress. It was ready to be picked up! I couldn't believe how fast that took!
So I drove down to San Diego to pick it up the following weekend. Once I got there they told me that the dress came in but they had to send it back because it didn't come in the way I ordered it. Originally the dress was a trumpet skirt and I paid for alterations to make it a-line. I thought that they should've given me a call to tell me not to make the trip from LA to San Diego once they figured out what happened!
Now I've been waiting a couple months for the altered dress and not holding my breath. I figure the original dress came in so quickly b/c they have a stock room in another city full of original designed dresses.

FINAL UPDATE: It took forever getting my dress. Every time I called they said it would be in in 10 days. Then, after all of the "10th days" I would call to see if I could pick it up. I waited and waited! I was beginning to think it would not be in before my wedding, but I still had about a month to go when it finally came in! THE BEST PART of the misinformation and waiting was that once it did come in they did my alterations for FREE!!! I think I saved around $500!!! They were so nice and apologetic about everything. I definitely recommend getting your dress here!
