If you want an outdoor wedding, this is definitely the place to do it. The convention center has a full kitchen (for last minute reception food preparation), a giant room for the reception (I think they said it holds 500). Plus, you can have the ceremony directly across the hall from the reception in a cozy room (with a fireplace) that overlooks the lake.

My husband and I didn't want to do the super-sweet cake, so we opted for cheesecake. The Cheesecake factory is wonderful to work with. They have a great variety of flavors to choose from and they ship right before the wedding on dry ice. This means that there is one less on sight vendor to work with. That alone is worth so much!

David's was a good choice for the alterations and I had good results for the most part. There were a few small things that made me wish I had chosen somebody else, though. The main part of my complaint is that the alterations ladies don't always listen to what you want. I asked for an actual eye hook to be placed at the top of my dress (so it would stay up a bit better),but they just cut a slit in the fabric for the hook. It ripped and my mom ended up adding an actual eye hook just minutes before the wedding.

Carrie is a fabulous photographer. I would recommend her to anybody getting married in Mississippi. Her rates are reasonable and she is a joy to work with. She has the ability to be everywhere without really being noticed. We have so many candid shots of our wedding that I saw and thought "Wow, I remember this. But I don't remember her being nearby." We let her bring her daughter to the wedding as well. This was definitely a great idea. It was great to see a mom passing on the trade to her daughter and I have to say that her daughter is a great addition to the team (even though she's young).
