I attended a wedding at Rancho Las Lomas last month and felt I should write a review to help future brides.
Pros:
-It's a beautiful location and the nature around the venue is very pleasant.
-The spanish style property is very pretty.
-It looks beautiful with candles at night outside of the reception room.
-It's a private location (which in turn makes it very far down El Toro road).
Cons -
-The catering company served uncooked chicken. When I say uncooked, I mean raw in the center. At least four tables were served this and were not given a new meal after servers from 24 carrots were informed and shown the chicken.
-Appetizer also took what seemed like forever to arrive during cocktail hour.
-I went back to my car to get a jacket because there was only 1 heater on the patio and found that valet had left my car unlocked, which had a laptop, video camera, and other valuable items in it.
-The bathrooms weren't attended very frequently. One was out of toilet paper for the night and the other had cocktails resting on the toliet.
-Someone on the staff asked if they could move our friends table over a bit to create more space for the dance floor. Little did my friend know, but they took out the whole table and she was left with no seat for the evening.
-Depending on how picky you are with smell...it could be a problem. Guests were referring to the venue as a zoo. I personally got over the smell and assumed that's what you get when you have animals around.
-Heels are really hard to wear while checking out the animals.
-Knowing other brides who have checked out this venue they have agreed that it's not your event it's more like your event at their venue and you have to abide by all the rules. I got the feeling that brides weren't able to make the event their own and it left them feeling that they couldn't be creative.
If you love this place for it's property, make sure to ask lots of questions about service and food quality!
Overall, the property is very beautiful, but to pay so much for a wedding I'm sure any bride would hope for better service, and at least a cooked meal.
