I loved the venue, there were other issues not too great. The place was beautiful, however, don't take the capacity listed at 175 as true-my number was about 85, and we were bumping into each other inside at dinner. It is a very strict dressing area code-and you pretty much have to be ready before you get there and only have your dresses/tuxes to put on-NO HAIRSPRAY of any kind! You get the feeling that you better not mess up anything at their precious building or else. The coordinator requires that all of the vendors be present for the rehearsal, and I had to pay an extra $350 for our bagpiper to attend, and he only played about 1/2 a song-something we could have improvised on just fine. The rehearsal was kind of chaotic-we could have used more help from the staff. The coordinator also indicated that the rehearsal had to be inside, even though our ceremony was going to be held outside-I did not understand that requirement at all. Outside was fine on space. The patio was beautiful with the lights, if you don't mind plastic yard chairs for the seating...kind of cheap looking. The silk flowers that were up when we were there were faded, I guess I figured they updated them every spring, but not so. The real flowers do not number into the thousands as touted on their website. The food by Two Sisters catering (the only caterer you can use) and the cakes (Two Guys Cakes) were delicious, still have people talking about how good the food was--but my new husband and I didn't get to enjoy much of that. The coordinator insisted that we not eat at the dinner-that we must go around and visit-under the promise that we would have our dinner packed for us to take on our honeymoon to enjoy more relaxed. I was really looking forward to that, but what we got was the tail end of what was left over, and not even all that we had served at the wedding. The pink bag it was in was pretty, but it did not disguise the half hearted effort at packing our special meal that it should have been. Also, our verbal dealings indicated that any left over food would be donated to a local shelter, and my husband and I really liked that idea (we had about 18 no shows so food was left over). When I came inside from the outside dancing, I found the coordinator and her assistant bellied up to the table with their plates piled high with food digging in and our event was not even over with! Very unprofessional. AND, I highly suspect that the food stays with them to feed their own needs, not go to a local shelter. Upon inspecting the contract, it only states that any left over food is the property of the venue. My fault for not looking more closely. I truly feel that there was a family misunderstanding regarding seating, because although there were no seating place cards, the head table was reserved for the wedding party--however, when they came in before my husband and I did-they were not directed on where to sit, and so they just sat at tables out in the general seating-leaving my family at loose ends on where to sit, but I did not direct them to the head table, because I thought the wedding party was still coming to sit down. I feel if the coordinator would have been more hands on and helped direct the dinner seating/traffic, we might not have had some hurt feelings--I could not do it all. The DJ recommended by the coordinator was not very good either; we took the time to provide our desired play list, and I don't think I heard but about 5 songs that were on it. Also, they pretty much insisted that one young guy sing "My Girl"...and it was very uncomfortable. Not seeing the decorations prior to the wedding was hard, but they did a good job with what we provided--but she pretty much keeps it to a static set up, so don't get too creative! Overall, the atmosphere was "hurry up, you only have your contracted 5 hours and no more"..but in all fairness, that's what we contracted for. Overall, it was a fair experience, but the food situation, after 2 years, still makes us angry. The venue outside really is very beautiful and magical at night with the lights on the trees, and that is what saved all the complaints. Nothing goes without it's problems, but some of these could have been avoided.
