My dad loves the King's Hawaiian Bread, so as a treat I ordered his birthday cake from this bakery. My whole family loved it. We ordered the Hawaiian Paradise cake and it was light, fluffy and yummy! Highly recommend this bakery!!!

I have mixed feelings about this bakery. As a local, I used to order several cakes for birthdays and various events from Great Dane. On at least 6 different occassions, the service was horrible. A lady named Maria was so rude and acted like she could care less about our business.
The first time they ruined a cake was for my cousin's son's first birthday party. She cried when she saw the cake. My cousin had spent an hour going over books and telling them what she did and did not like. They created a horrible clown looking cake. She spent over $150 for this cake. To their credit, they did give her a partial refund. But it was an important day and the cake was important to her. She was embarassed to set it out in front of her guests.
The second time they ruined a cake was for an anniversary dinner for my aunt. I went in my cousin to order the cake. We should have known better because they did mess up on a few of our orders in the past. But the cakes are good, and they're creative when they listen to you. When I went to pick up the cake, they had written the wrong names on the cake. Their designer was already gone for the day so the lady who was helping me scraped the top off and tried to write it in icing. She was trying to be helpful but it looked horrible. To make matters worse, the cake was dry and the wrong flavor.
Recently at my friend's wedding in September, they ordered a chocolate ganache cake. It was unusually warm for September, so the cake started melting. After the florist and coordinator moved the cake to an air conditioned room, they noticed the cake was lopsided and poorly put together. The cake could not be put out on display like my friend had wanted, and it looked really bad in her pictures.
However, I have seen beautiful and wonderful tasting cakes come from this bakery. I guess it really is a crap shoot, or my friends and family don't have good luck with this place.

This is by far one of my favorite bakeries EVER... for some of my past birthday cakes, they've made a tiffany box, birthday present, stacks of shoe boxes, just to name a few. The cakes are always delicious and beautiful. My personal favorite is the marble cake with caramel mousse filling and the Most which is sooo decadent.

After interviewing several florists, I finally decided on Heavenly Blooms. Their work and creativity is truly fantastic. Their prices are reasonable as well. Jaclyn is so nice and welcoming. She brought out several different flower options for us to view and helped us decide on our colors. She told us where we could cut so that we could stay within our budget, and even offered to help with extra details at the wedding.
I highly HIGHLY recommend Heavenly Blooms. Our wedding date is quickly approaching and I am looking forward to seeing our beautiful flowers! My MOH who is getting married in Palm Springs also booked them for her wedding in September.

Grade: A+

Will update with more information after our final consultation.

Rossmoor Pastries is only popular because they have contracts with so many local reception sites, not because their cakes are good. I am a cake person, I love cake. This is the only cake I have ever spit out. My fiance who eats anything, didn't even like it or finish his slice at my friend's wedding.
The cake is tasteless, and the service is horrible. My friend asked me to go with her to the cake tasting, and the coordinator was rude and rushed us through the appointment. If you can, I would recommend avoiding this bakery, there are so many better tasting, better priced bakeries out there.

Well, I am a foodie. I love food, and watch the Food Network religiously. After seeing Giada eat at this restaurant, I had to try it. When I finally made it back to San Francisco in August, I quickly made a reservation. The earliest time was 10pm, a little late, but I HAD to eat there. The restaurant is tucked away inside the Westin, which is in Union Square. We walked in, and were quickly escorted to our seats. We were presented with the evening's menu and I was so excited! I started with the seafood trio (which may I add, is an additional $15 to the prix fixe menu) I was so excited to eat the lobster roll, shrimp cocktail, and softshell crab. Then I ordered the salmon trio for dinner, and the root beer float & cookies for dessert (Giada ordered this too)
I was so disappointed with the first course. The shrimp cocktail was a shrimp jello in a clear bowl!!! The lobster roll and soft shell crab were a little better, but not by much. Dinner was terrible... dessert was just ok. For the price we paid for our meals, I expected so much more! The only nice little treat were the ice cream lollipops they serve you before they deliver the bill. The minute your behind sits in their chair, it's $100... and it only goes up from there. I don't mind paying good money for good food, but this is not a restaurant I will return to, EVER!!!
