I'm in the process of having a really bad time with this vendor. I'll update if things get better. So I live in St. Louis, not Chicago. I want a dress from the Maggie Sottero Spring 2010 line, but have been told that none of the stores in my area will have the dress before Feb. MS dresses take 6 mos. to make (so I'm told) so I need to order before Feb. I called the company in Utah, thanks to their # from another helpful PW bride. They told me try the trunk shows, that the stores having the trunk shows will know the dresses they're going to have. So 3 weeks before the trunk show, I called to make my appointment. I asked the dresses they had, and they told me they would know the week before, but said "Yes, we will have the new 2010 dresses." So I made my appointment and the arrangements to make the trip. The week before the show I started to call about the dresses that would be there. I kept getting the run around. "No, only our managers know, and they're not here right now." "Oh, we're waiting for our shipment, and don't know yet." Finally, one nice lady offered to call me back when they knew the dresses they had. Except, they never call. Now they are closed tomorrow, and the next day is the bridal show. I call them today to find out the dresses. I tell them the first one on my list. Their response "Oh no, that's one of the new dresses. Nobody will have that before Feb." is her reply. I tell her, "No, the company told me some trunk shows will have the dress." So then I leave a list of the names of the other dresses I'm looking for, because they have to ask some other person in the store. They tell me again, that they'll call me back. No call. I've told everyone that I'm driving over 5 hours to come to their shop. They could at least be honest with me about the dresses they will have, and call me back.
* Update. I finally got them on the phone and after keeping me on hold for about 20 minutes, they finally told me they didn't have the dresses, because none of the samples were made yet. That is a lie. When I called Maggie Sottero in Utah they said some of the dresses were out at some of the trunk shows. (A PW bride has since tried them on.) I did not find them helpful at all. They called my mom 3 days after the bridal show was over (4 days after we were to have gone there.) They told her that they didn't have any of the dresses that we asked for. But I could just call them with my measurements and then pay shipping & handling and they would send the dress to me in St. Louis. HELLO! I can buy the dress here and not pay shipping & handling. The point was that I wanted to SEE the dress before I bought it, and was why I was willing to drive 5 hours.
