The people at The Lexington were a dream to work with. They allowed us to choose 3 entrée choices for a menu and guests could order at the table from the server. It worked out so smoothly. The timing of the meal was perfect and the food was amazing! Everyone commented on how much they liked their entrée. The entire staff was so attentive to us during the day and made sure we had everything we needed. It seemed like whenever I wanted to ask about something a manager was right there to help. Having worked as a server myself, I never could have imagined serving a group of 75 people would have been so flawless. Three cheers for The Lexington!!!

Barclay took our engagement and wedding photos. In his contract he stated he would get our wedding pictures to us 4 weeks after our wedding. He delivered our engagement pictures on time and we were very happy with the pictures. Our wedding pictures were a different story. It took 11 weeks for us to receive our pictures and it took a total of 24.5 weeks from our wedding to receive all our photos with the edits. I would have never hired Barclay if I knew it would take him this long to get our photos to us. His communication during the whole process was terrible. He would constantly promise he would get our photos to us on a specific date and then the date would pass and he wouldn’t even communicate with us to let us know the status of our pictures. It was very frustrating. He also has never offered us anything in return for the extra time we waited to get our photos.

I was initially going to design and print my own invites. I left them to the last minute and decided it was too much work to do on my own. I contacted Josie and she said she could do a more basic design since we were on a time crunch and she had lots of other projects that she’d already committed to. I jazzed up the invitations she designed with a gold backing cardstock and ribbon band. I loved the way the invitations turned out. I had to get my invitations reprinted 8 weeks before our wedding because Forepaugh’s (our original reception venue) cancelled on us 8 weeks before our wedding. Josie was quick to change the information and get the new invites out to us in a week. Although we had all our communication over email it was seamless and she was quick to respond to any change or request. Her prices are really reasonable too! With all the work that goes into DIY I wouldn’t think twice about hiring Josie to design and print my invites again.

Nicole Newman did my hair and makeup from Makeupdo. I was so happy with the way I looked. After the trial, Chad kept commenting on how he loved the way my hair turned out. Nicole was a trooper arriving at the Saint Paul Hotel at 6am the morning of the wedding. She made me look beautiful and I would definitely recommend Nicole to any bride!

Nicole did an amazing job with my makeup! It lasted all day long with not a single touch up. I was very happy with how the makeup looked in photographs. Nicole is a makeup artist for many models so she has a great eye for applying makeup for the camera. She was also really easy to work with and communication was great! She arrived at our hotel super early in the morning with a bright smile! It was fun to leave the makeup application to a professional on my wedding day and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her again for a special event.

Comfort Suites was really difficult to deal with. They initially wouldn’t block any rooms for us and I made countless calls to the sales manager and general manager before they finally agreed to block rooms for us. We had issues with them not reserving the right rooms for guests, overcharging them, and they had difficulties with them granting us our free honeymoon suite because we had enough guests staying at the hotel. I was very frustrated in all my dealings with them and wouldn’t recommend other wedding couples use this hotel for their guests. On a positive note, their rooms were very clean. I did feel that they were more expensive than other hotels in the area.

I had met with one other florist before meeting with Molly and didn't really click with the first florist I met with. I loved Molly from our first meeting. She had some really great suggestions and seemed to really understand my ideas for our flowers. My bouquet turned out better than I could have imagined. She had a great idea of putting 15 stephanotis flowers in my bouquet for the 15 years Chad and I have been together. I loved this idea! We had her make a memorial vase with flowers for the ceremony. I had no idea what this would look like but it was beautiful and huge! It was a great arrangement for the reception too. Molly was great to work with and the flowers were better than I even hoped for. Her prices are very reasonable too!

Michael is an amazing pianist and singer! He was referred to us by The Lexington but we actually already had him in mind because he had played at my friend’s wedding and was a hit there! Michael was great to work with! Great communication before the wedding and he played exactly what we wanted during the reception. The guests loved it! I wish we would have had more time during our reception for him to take song requests because I have been at others weddings who have used him and he can really get a crowd going. He plays at Axel's Bonfire and Rudy's Redeye on occasion.

The park itself is just so stunning and is beautiful in the spring and summer. It was easy to reserve the park by calling the park board. The hard part about using the park though is it’s still a public park so anyone can still be there. I was a little worried they wouldn't get the fountain turned on in time because the Thursday before our wedding the fountain still wasn’t turned on, even thought they said it would be. I was happily surprised when we arrived at the park on Friday for our rehearsal and the fountain was on. There were lots of kids there taking pictures in front of the fountain for prom though so it was hard to have a rehearsal. Also, the flower pots surrounding the fountain hadn't been potted with flowers yet so we bought baskets of flowers at Costco and stuck them in the pots. It’s the responsibility of the neighboring community to plant the flowers and it hadn’t been done by the day of our wedding but the flowers we put in the pots looked nice and we took them out after the ceremony and had them outside of our house all summer.

We had Well’s Catering deliver food to a banquet room our out-of-town guests were staying at the night before the wedding. Well’s Catering delivered 2 wonderful pasta choices, salads, bread, utensils, and serving dishes to our reserved room at our hotel for about 40 guests. Everyone commented on how good the food tasted. I was surprised at how reasonably priced the meal was. I believe it was around $9.50/person for seafood alfredo, penne pasta with sausage, bread, and salad. It was less than what it would have cost had we gone with Famous Daves or something similar. They had chafing dishes for the pastas so they stayed warm throughout the night too! George Wells, the owner, was great to work with!

It was really important to me that our cake tasted really good. We just wanted a simple white cake with almond filling and buttercream frosting. I choose Wuollet's because they didn't charge a delivery fee to our reception site, had reasonable prices, and their cakes were delicious. I didn't have too high of expectations of what our cake would look like because I have had many friends who have had a picture of their wedding cake and what they wanted it to look like and it looks nothing like the picture. When I saw our cake for our wedding I was amazed. It was even better than the picture. I had bought some roses that I wanted scattered on the top of the cake and around the base. My PAs were going to put them on the cake but when they got to reception site in the morning The Lexington manager said that Wuollet's said they would come back when the flowers arrived and would arrange them on the cake like the picture. My PAs were relieved that they didn't have to arrange the flowers and I was so impressed the Wuollet's came back to put the flowers on. Everyone commented on how good the cake tasted too!
