A friend of ours recommended Nancy because we were looking for someone who would not only take wonderful pictures, but who wouldn’t charge us an arm and a leg! Every photographer we had investigated prior to Nancy STARTED at anywhere from $1500-$3000. As my husband and I are both full-time students, there was only so much we could afford. We visited Nancy and viewed her portfolio. We were pleased with her photos… and then held our breath waiting for the price breakdown. We were SHOCKED. She had several packages under $1000… and these were not “small” packages. The client could still receive 5-6 hours of coverage while staying within a reasonable budget. That was a huge draw for us.
Other great things about Nancy: we had spoken to another photographer who offered to “squeeze us in” between the ceremony and reception for another wedding he was shooting in the area. Needless to say, that option did not appeal to us. Nancy shared with us in our initial meeting that she preferred to dedicate an entire weekend to one event. She stayed in Door County Friday-Sunday (our wedding was on Saturday). She scouted places for photos, she was involved with our guests… it was wonderful. Additionally, Nancy’s husband Mark assists her on her jobs. So, we were really getting two people for the price of one. We had a lovely ceremony and were incredibly pleased that Nancy was very unobtrusive and didn’t interfere at all with the sacred nature of our event.
The finished product: we received our edited photos within 5 weeks of our event. She compiled a CD for us of 500 of our images. The editing she had done was absolutely breathtaking. She invited us to ask her for additional editing on any of our favorite prints. We received all the rights to all photos. And she gave us a “back-up” CD in the case that anything would happen to the first one. We have received so many compliments on our pictures. And in comparing them with friends’ wedding photos (friends who paid much more for pictures than we did), we find ours to be infinitely better.

My husband’s groomsmen and our usher all lived in different cities/states. Thus, he wanted to go with a national chain, so fittings and pick-ups could happen in different cities. My husband’s tux was free, as the 5th tux rental was free. We couldn’t have been happier with the service we received there.

We found our wedding bands at Jared’s after visiting many other jewelry stores. We were looking for a national chain, knowing that if we ever re-located we could still receive any needed service on our wedding rings. We had a distinct idea of what we wanted—we knew we wanted matching bands, or as close to matching as possible—and Jared’s had what we were looking for at the lowest price. We take it in every six months for cleaning and inspection (included in our warranty)… they even re-sized my engagement ring when they joined the two bands at no cost to us. We’ve been very pleased with their customer service and quality from Day One.

What an absolutely romantic place. My husband and I wanted only to be with each other on our honeymoon. We loved the idea of a bed and breakfast. Darrin and Bryon, the owners, couldn’t have been more welcoming. The homemade breakfasts were amazing. We stayed in a cabin—it was flawlessly furnished and decorated. The grounds are impeccably manicured… gardens included! For any couples looking to truly “get away” and spend uninterrupted quality time with each other after the wedding day, this is the place to be! We are hoping to return for many anniversaries to come.

We were so excited to discover the Gordon Lodge. The website speaks for itself—it is a BEAUTIFUL resort. Very secluded, very peaceful. The lodge was very accommodating to our needs, even though our wedding was quite small. They have a variety of room types at a variety of prices. Every lodge room has a beautiful view of the lake. They have recently remodeled the actual lodge; this included a brand new honeymoon suite. They also have a variety of cabins on property that they were starting to remodel as well. My husband-to-be stayed there the night before our wedding; he and many of our other guests commented on the wonderful breakfast (included in the room rate). For anyone getting married in Door County… or honeymooning there, for that matter… check out the Gordon Lodge!
As previously mentioned, we had 37 guests at our ceremony/reception. We did not want an elaborate reception with dancing, etc. We wanted to provide our guests with a very nice dinner while adhering to our rather modest budget. Gordon Lodge provided the ideal solution. While they have a brand new special events venue that is absolutely stunning (see website for pictures), it is ideal for larger events. Not to mention that the rental fee alone was out of our price range. For smaller events, they have a party room in their Top Deck restaurant for rent. We paid a $200 deposit to book the room—this deposit then was the entire room fee provided nothing was damaged at our event. VERY reasonable. For this small fee, two servers and a bartender were provided for our entire event. In addition, the restaurant manager was present almost the entire time to make sure that everything was running smoothly. We were able to access the room the entire day of our event to decorate as we wished. The food was delicious. We offered prime rib and raspberry-marinated chicken for our guests. My husband and I ate the prime rib, and it was spectacular. Our guests that ate the chicken had similar compliments to offer! We opted for a cash bar, as our families don’t drink that much. For pre-dinner appetizers (for which we also received raves) and the dinners for 39 people, the entire reception cost us roughly $1500. We were very pleased for the quality and service we received for such a reasonable price. The atmosphere was also fantastic. Highly recommend!!!

My husband and I are both Lutheran (WELS). We were having a very small wedding (under 40 guests), so we wanted a very quaint, picturesque setting for our ceremony. Zion was the perfect choice for us. They had just built a brand new entryway to the church with beautiful new restrooms, etc. It was the ideal location. And free to WELS members to use!

A co-worker had mentioned that they chose a Mila’s cake for her daughter’s wedding. They had received numerous compliments about how tasty the cake was. In fact, my other co-workers who had attended the wedding were still talking about how fantastic the cake was over a year later! I knew we had to check her out. As Mila’s is a wholesale bakery, not a retail bakery, she does not have fresh samples to offer. She did, however, give us two frozen cake samples at our first appointment. My husband-to-be and I ate them after they thawed and were STUNNED. The cake melted in our mouths. We reasoned that if her cakes were that delicious frozen, imagine what they would taste like fresh! We also found her to be extremely reasonable in price. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our wedding cake! Our guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about our delicious cake.

I wanted simple, classy dresses that would not cost my bridesmaids an arm and a leg. I found beautiful black silk, strapless gowns on the Ann Taylor website. They happened to be on clearance for $99. Perfect! The challenge became finding the appropriate sizes for my two girls. My maid of honor went to Mayfair to try on similar dresses to decide upon a size to order. Thankfully, they still had her size available for order. My other bridesmaid was not so lucky. She ordered a much larger size and had it altered down. You would never be able to tell, though! They looked gorgeous.

Shopping for my wedding dress was such an enjoyable experience. I’m someone who doesn’t like spending much time in a store, trying things on. I was able to pick out about 5 dresses that I liked from the websites of their various designers. The store is organized in price ranges, making it very easy for those on a budget (like myself) to navigate dress choices. Ultimately, I found my dream gown in their “$199 room”—these are gowns that have been discontinued, so they were only available “as is.” I ended up with a 100% silk gown originally priced at $1100 for $200! Amazing.

Caron was wonderful to work with. My best friend and I were married two weeks apart (we were each other’s maid of honor); I had both my bridesmaid dress and wedding gown altered by Caron. Alterations were done in a very timely manner. Additionally, my gown had a very full skirt and presented a bustle challenge… Caron created the most beautiful and unique bustle! I received many compliments on my wedding day.
