Hubby and I have both been to Morocco and can tell you that walking into the hotel is like walking into a riad in Marrakech.
Positives:
1.) Absolutely gorgeous. The photos on the website don’t do it justice. Our honeymoon suite was incredible. We saved a fortune on flowers because the space just doesn't require much additional decoration. We loved that it was unique – not your typical wedding location.
2.) Great food. Guests loved it.
3.) Reasonably priced.
4.) Reasonably priced rooms for out-of-town guests
6.) Wait staff and bartenders there are SOOOO friendly.
Negatives:
1.) The only drawback to the hotel is that the manager/owner/event coordinator is difficult to communicate with. Almost every email I sent to him asking him questions was answered with an email that said “Ok.” And that’s it. He never returned phone calls. Byhe week of the wedding I just avoided contact with him because it was such a frustrating experience. But I will stress this: in the end the hotel exceeded my expectations. There were absolutely no problems on the day of the wedding, in fact he threw in a few items free-of-charge that we never asked for.
We spent about $110 per person for our reception, which included an open bar cocktail hour w/ tray passed appetizers, and four course dinner with wine and a champagne toast.

Linh only does make up, not hair. My trial run was in the morning and the make up lasted until I went to bed that night. At the wedding everything went great, she was right on time and did a quick but beautiful job. My mom and bridesmaids were blown away by the results. I was weepy during the ceremony and everything stayed put. She's very good with Asian eyes. (I'm sure she's great with any ethnicity, but eyes can be a tricky detail for us Asians!) I highly recommend.

I highly recommend Taix if you’re located in Silverlake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, or Downtown. They have several private rooms to accommodate any size party. Jill and Mike handle all the banquets and both are extremely friendly and helpful. We had a cocktail party for about 45 people (instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner) and the service and food were excellent. Guests never had to ask for anything, food and drink were always replenished. We served hot hors d’oeuvres instead of a sit-down dinner and it was more than enough to fill everyone up. There was a very low minimum charge for the room and our bill ended up being much less than we anticipated. Their service fee is 17% compared to most places’ 20%.

Out of all of our vendors, the one who got the most compliments when we mingled with guests at our reception was Gabrielle. People couldn’t stop raving about how great she was and how beautiful our ceremony was. We met 3 times before the wedding. She took time to get to know us personally and create a ceremony that was 100% unique to us. She’s a full-time therapist so she was also extremely calming and concerned with us personally and what we were experiencing in the months, weeks, and minutes leading up to the wedding. We can’t recommend Gabrielle highly enough.
Marlo was really a month-of-wedding coordinator, rather than just the day. She confirmed and re-confirmed with all my vendors and created an extremely thorough timeline. Every one of my other vendors commented on how well organized and on top of it she was throughout the day, which I took as a real testament to her performance. She also brought three assistants. I believe they were interns or trainees, but very helpful when it came to running errands and coordinating our entrances on walky-talkies.
By the way, Marlo’s fee was hundreds of dollars less than any other coordinators I contacted. I believe she’s trying to grow her business in the LA area, so book her quickly before her rates shoot up. She’s worth much more than what we paid her.

We’d gone to 3 other bakeries before we found a cupcake that actually tasted good. I was fuzzy about what exactly I wanted for the reception, but I knew I wanted a tiny wedding cake plus cupcakes, and I didn’t want a cupcake tower. Denise set up a beautiful cake table, with a small 2-tier cake in the center surrounded by cupcakes on vintage cake stands at various heights. The cake/cupcake display was a huge hit with guests and made for some stunning photos. Guests raved about the yummy cakes, and the entire package from Violet’s was hundreds of dollars less than any other quote that I got.

Our flower order was very small, and I underestimated how much I would adore the flowers. I know nothing about flowers so for our alter and sign-in table arrangements I told Kerim the general shape and size I wanted and showed him pictures of the location. He took it from there and the results were perfect. Our bouquets… I absolutely fell in love with them. I showed him a couple pictures and he replicated them perfectly. He took the style of my dress into account so that the size and shape of the bouquet complimented the whole look. I loved my bouquet so much I took it on our honeymoon to decorate our room! Five days after the wedding it’s still going strong, so I’m now attempting to dry it. If I’d known how much I would love it I would have made arrangements to have it preserved.
We first went to find a wedding band for my FI. We were going to get platinum, but Vic encouraged us to choose less-expensive, more-durable palladium because FI was worried he'd be rough on it.
While we were there I asked about having a custom band made to fit against my engagement ring. The father (I can't remember his name now) took the time to design a band and created a wax mock-up so I could see exactly how it would look. I waffled back and forth about the band and went back to the store 2 more times before I finally picked one. Each time they were patient and helpful. They also added milgrain edging to match my engagement ring at no additional cost.

Wow, there are some awful reviews for this salon! I had a good experience there. I waivered between ordering a full-priced wedding dress or a formal bridesmaid dress in white. Unlike the first salon I went to (totally snotty!), Violet at Mary Linn's was very attentive and never pressured me to buy the $1800 dress over the $250 dress. I ended up ordering the bridesmaid dress. It came in early and I was very pleased with my service.
