My husband and I didn’t interview many caterers so we figured we make up for it by interviewing at lot of cake bakers. We went to some pretty “high end” wedding bakers and we were not impressed with the flavors or the exorbitant cost. By the time we made the appointment with Heidelberg we were at the point where we just wanted a cake that wouldn’t be memorably bad. We were in for a treat!
First, Klaus and his wife Jeannette are a delight. They are super friendly, helpful, and charming in their suggestions. They are also willing to offer advice (like the best place to rent a cake stand) and they double check information (I wanted black and white, not brown and white) which told me I was in good hands.
And the cake . . .OMG. The Cake. It’s amazing. My bridesmaids ordered the cake for the bridal shower from Heidelberg and everyone was raving about it. There wasn’t any left! How often do ladies get together and there is a ton of cake leftover at the end? Not this cake! And Klaus did a special flavor (spice cake) so it wasn’t even one of his regular flavors. He even made a small tasking cake in advance so we could try the spice cake before committing. It was awesome! He also did a fabulous job on the design of a cake -- he matched a photo that was cut out of a magazine. It was gorgeous!
For the wedding my husband and I chose the white cake with lemon filling and marble cake with Bavarian cream. Again, it was awesome! We can’t wait to get our one year anniversary cake! From now on we are ordering birthday, baptism, graduation, and any other cakes we might need from Heidelberg! After trying sooo many bakeries, we can personally attest to the fact that Heidelberg really is the best.

When we hired Ruth, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I was very specific that I just needed a day-of coordinator. Yeah, right. Planning a wedding is a crash course in etiquette, contract negotiations, haggling, time management, and creativity . . . and that doesn’t even touch the emotional components. By the time you figure everything out, it’s your wedding day and the planning part is finished! Enter Ruth.
Ruth is incredibly well-organized, responsive, and has a spectacularly warm and friendly personality. She recommended vendors, gave us negotiating tips, answered a ton of questions leading up to the big day, and generally maintained a sense of unflappable calm (which is essential when dealing with a couple of type A personalities like me and my husband!). We had some unique requests for the timing of our wedding day and Ruth really thought about how to accommodate those requests without boring or alienating guests.
Our wedding was beautiful and fun and we were so pleased with the way Ruth was able to tackle all the little details (and challenges!) that inevitably pop up the day of a wedding. It was a relief to know that Ruth and her assistants were handling things in their professional and efficient way so that we could enjoy our wedding day!
If you are doing lighting at your wedding, Infinity is the only way to go! I cannot say enough positive things about their service, professionalism, and skill.
Service: We worked with Steve and he was always prompt in returning phone calls and emails, which is something rarely encountered in the wedding industry. He also met with me in person before the wedding to go over the final details, special requests, and the overall lighting plan. I got the impression he really cared about achieving the “look” we wanted on our wedding day.
Cost: I received quotes from 5 lighting companies and Infinity was by far the most cost effective. Steve took the time to go over options, listen to my requests, and present recommendations without stomping on my ideas or my budget.
Skill: The ballroom looked awesome! For us, it was like stepping into a photo. I had showed Steve a photograph of what I wanted and he was able to recreate the “look” perfectly. Honestly, I was amazed! And it made such a difference in the overall look and feel of the room.
Misc.: Infinity also provided a DVD player and a movie screen for a video that was played during the reception and a DVD player and speakers for our children’s room. Everything was set up and taken down exactly as requested. It was a huge relief to know someone was taking care of this (testing the sound, picture, etc.) and so much cheaper than using the AV package available from our venue.
A+++ HIGHLY recommended vendor!
Several months before the wedding, Jen told me that her goal was to make me love my flowers on the wedding day. She very much succeeded. When we entered the ballroom to get a sneak peak before the guests, I was blown away!
I know she put a lot of time and energy into making sure we had the exact candelabra and vases we wanted (she drove all over southern California to find them!). And the flowers were simply gorgeous!
Jen operates on a different level than most of us – I think you have to if you’re going to be a designer – and it really shows in her creativity and floral artistry. She does amazing work and you will not be disappointed!
We preferred to have our wedding invitation company print the maps, so Snappy Maps designed the map and then we sent a PDF to our printer. Debbie designed the map and she was awesome! She matched the font to our wedding invitations, made helpful suggestions, took the time to understand our concerns and the extra information we wanted the map to convey, and did a fantastic job designing a custom icon to match our wedding ceremony location. And, best of all, everything was on time and communication was great throughout the process so I never felt like she had disappeared. It was a pleasure to work with her and I highly recommend Snappy Maps!
Hollie did my makeup before our engagement party and it was awesome! Her skills really showed because the makeup looked great in person AND in pictures. She's going to do my makeup again for our engagement pictures and I booked her for our wedding. I'll post again after the other events, but so far she gets my top recommendation!
