I would give A Piece of Cake 10 stars if I could. I have never tasted a better wedding cake—and from the compliments, neither had our wedding guests. Rocio’s cakes are to die for—she offers a number of cake types and fillings and is very patient with you during the selection process. She allows you to design your cake, which my husband and I did. Rocio is warm and friendly, as well. She is receptive to many communications—via phone and/or email—throughout the wedding process. This put me, as a bride, at ease. Rocio’s cakes are just wonderful. My husband and I asked her to make our anniversary cake for us, because our wedding cake was just so wonderful. A Piece of Cake is a top vendor, no doubt!

The Lindbergs are excellent photographers—and through our wedding process, have become great friends, as well. They are a husband-wife duo who are very personable, warm, and friendly. I found it beneficial to have 2 photographers—one with the bride and one with the groom. This is key during the preparation, in my opinion. The Lindberg’s photography skills are amazing…they can capture some amazing moments without you even noticing their presence. I felt very comfortable and at easy with them on our wedding day. You will too! We also used them for our engagement pictures, and my husband and I really had fun with that. Like I mentioned, they have a very upbeat, friendly personality, and that in itself is very uplifting.

Holly is just brilliant!! I absolutely cannot find the words to convey how terrific Holly is. She was extremely patient with me, as I presented her with many, many pictures of different wedding bouquets/arrangements that I liked. Holly gave us something that was “ours,’ and everything was gorgeous. Holly truly delivered. She made our wedding flowers everything that we dreamed of. We got compliment after compliment on our beautiful flowers—they were everything I wanted. I cried when I saw my bouquet. She put her heart and soul into our wedding, and for that I will be forever grateful. I found Holly’s prices to be quite reasonable, as well. You get a good bang for your buck, with all the arrangements being very full and beautiful.
I searched and searched and searched for the perfect place to get married. I was not satisfied with any venue until I arrived on the grounds of Whitehall Manor. It is located in the beautiful Northern Virginia countryside, just a short drive from Leesburg, VA. The grounds are well-maintained, and the manor hall is gorgeous. It is classy and elegant, yet offered the opportunity for us to marry outside, which we chose. The Whitehall staff was great to work with—I was a bride with many, many questions, and the staff never hesitated to give me an honest, quick answer. I had many communications with them via phone, in-person, and over e-mail. This close communication made me feel very at ease with them, especially as our wedding day grew near. Like I said, we got married under the arch at Whitehall and had an indoor reception. Whitehall is one of the few sites in NOVA that offers an indoor reception. I didn’t feel comfortable with an outdoor reception, under a tent, as offered by many other reception sites in the area. We used Whitehall’s catering, Celebrations Catering, which was outstanding. The service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend this location, albeit a bit expensive. It was worth the money.

I went to Hairport for several make-up trial runs before our wedding day. From the moment I met Charlene, I knew I would choose her as my make-up artist. She is warm and friendly—and does a fabulous job with make-up. Her artistry skills and techniques are amazing. She truly knows how to apply make-up to accentuate your features and make you beautiful. My bridesmaids’ also had their make-up done by Charlene and her assistant. They all gave rave reviews. Some of my most fond wedding memories—and pictures—are with Charlene and the entire staff at Hairport. She was definitely one of my favorite wedding vendors.

The entire staff at Vienna Jewelry and Estate Buyers was fabulous! I cannot say enough good things about them. They were instrumental in helping with the selection of my wedding band. My husband purchased my engagement ring from this shop, too. They do great, custom work and are willing to create a custom piece for you. Throughout the wedding process, the staff really become your friends. A little more than a year after our wedding, they know us on a first-name basis and are always happy to offer ring cleanings to us. Definitely recommend them for their great prices and selection. The sky is the limit!

Men’s Wearhouse was an average vendor. They are a national chain, so they are great if you have groomsmen spread across the country. That was our main attraction to them. For being a national chain, I thought they would’ve offered more of a color selection for the vests. They, in my opinion, have a surprisingly limited selection of colors from which to choose, especially given the color selection of bridesmaids’ dresses. The staff was friendly. All the tuxes came in—which is something to be thankful for. All the groomsmen’s tuxes fit, but the groom’s didn’t! All in all, they were okay. We didn’t have any major problems with them.

My friend owns Inspired Pear, and working with her was phenomenal! Inspired Pear is a terrific vendor. Ioana was extremely patient—she listened to me describe my desired overall “feel” and “look” of our wedding and designed our save-the-dates, invites, programs, etc. to perfectly fit the look we waned. Ioana is receptive to constructive criticism and tweaks throughout the design and editing, as she truly aims to give her clients products that are “theirs” and that they love. She did a fabulous job with everything, but especially with our invites. Once they hit the mail, we got phone call after phone call and compliment after compliment. People had never seen such beautiful work. Her creative way really stole the show at our wedding!

I would definitely recommend that any bride and her fiancé go to a bridal show, especially if you are newly engaged. My fiancé and I attended the Dulles-Chantilly Bridal Expo. Wow—it was great—lots of ideas to glean—lots of beautiful cakes and floral arrangements. However, there are LOTS of vendors, and it’s easy to leave the expo confused and just with a bag full of “stuff”—brochures that you may actually never refer to. It is definitely an enjoyable event, however. There are lots of free food samples from the various catering vendors, and you can enter into many contests—and win honeymoons, dance lessons, etc.

My experience with the Bridal Closet was fabulous! Although the store carries a smaller selection, the dresses it does carry are high quality and are beautiful. For me, having a smaller selection actually made choosing my dress much easier. I visited many, many dress shops—some of the bigger ones are so large and offer so many selections that a bride can get easily confused. The owner of the Bridal Closet is great—she is very warm and friendly. Unlike the staff at other stores, she doesn’t mind you coming in as often as you like and trying on dresses. Choosing my bridal dress actually wasn’t as difficult as selecting my bridesmaids’ dresses. The Bridal Shop owner was extremely helpful with my maids’ dresses, offering her opinion of what style looked good on different body styles. She was terrific and patient in every way! She also made herself available via phone and e-mail…I just cannot say enough great things at the Bridal Closet. It gets five thumbs up!
