We had Indian cake toppers with the traditional garb, with henna and bindi detail while the traditional groom is dressed in his sherwani. They were so cute, we had to have them.

Even though she is based in Chicago, we hired her on a consultant basis to help with the supplies to decorate the reception. Her Mendhi décor is truly beautiful and if you get a chance look at the gallery on her website. Well worth every penny, just wish she was in our city.

With a crowd of the size of ours (400), we had to order additional chairs and tables. We went with this company actually because they were the cheapest. We googled chair rentals in our zip code and called everyone. Once we got their quote we quickly paid the deposit. They delivered and picked up the chairs on time.
At the reception we had a dance group that performed the raqs sharqi, Some styles contain more twisting movement; some more up and down hip movements; some more upper body movement than others. It was more vivid, more theatrical and much rehearsed. The was a gift from the father of the brides and we loved it.

We went with a professional make up artist that said she catered to Middle Eastern women but to be honest I did not see the difference. The concealer, lip gloss, eye shadows all came from mac but we all looked beautiful and at least we were in unison.

We took a tour called on the Lords Footsteps. Utterly amazing. We visited the Taj Mahal, the cities of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. We also visited the city place and the amber fort. All together our husbands spent about 6,000.00. An experience that words can not explain.
We ordered the Golden Lac Boxes with Beads and Mirror card holders. Everyone loved them. We filled our boxes with jelly beans but you can put anything you want in them. They were a little pricey though, around 3$ each and we ordered 300. As you can see money was not an issue to our desires.

We had the bridal party take lessons in the raq baladi technique. It is a social dance for men and women. We learned the traditional movements with the emphasis on flexibility. The instructor provided us with cymbals and costumes. The crowd enjoyed it.

She created both of our dresses which were traditional embroideries on fitted lehangas and full bottom ghers. All together we spent close to $4,000 US Dollars but the dresses were beautiful. One warning- do not wait till the last minutes as it took about 50 weeks to get our dresses sent to us.
