We stayed at the Ambassador Hotel on the night of our wedding. It’s always fun to stay at a fancy hotel, especially one this nice. My favorite part was that we did not get the romantic getaway package that most newly weds would get and got us the “rejuvenation” package instead. I thought that it was an absolutely brilliant idea. Instead of champagne and chocolate, on Sunday we were able to choose between several spa treatments. We both got messages and facials, which was a great way to relax and wind down from all the excitement of the wedding.

If I was going to get married in a place where rocks stars party, then I wanted to show up to my party like a rock star. We knew right away that we would hire a limousine service, and contacted many companies in the phonebook. Bestway Limousine contacted us back right away. They were really nice on the phone, and after we saw the limousines they had in their fleet we booked right away. Clean, cool, and fun. I really recommend to all bride-to-be to get a limo because you feel so cool on your wedding day.

This is a concert venue in Milwaukee, and this is where Tim and I met over ten years ago at a Blink 182 concert. Our music tastes have changed a bit since the mid-nineties, but our love of music and going to shows has not changed! When we were looking at venues for weddings and found out that we could hold the reception here, we were ecstatic! The Eagle Hall is really beautiful, it has hardwood floors and high ceilings and there is a good, happy vibe to it. We also knew that we wanted a live band for part of the reception and the Hall has a stage, which is perfect. It’s not a traditional place for a wedding, but it’s really beautiful. The staff and Justin, the event coordinator, are also great to bring about the best qualities of the place by working with lights and giving great suggestions for flowers and such.

I was actually really surprised to find that David’s Bridal had an excellent selection of wedding invitations. I was looking online at wedding dresses with my mother and we noticed that there was a sale on wedding invitations. Online the wedding invitations templates are really cute, really cool looking, and very affordable. I was going to make my invitations. Instead, we made a template of what I would want my wedding invitation to look like and ordered one sample. It was of great quality, so we ordered a set of invitations and place cards. I was really happy I was able to get affordable cards that were nicer than expected. The delivery was fast, too.

I was very careful when I booked my appointment here for my wedding day. This is where I normally get my hair dyed and cut every few months, so they know my hair and me well. I wanted to go somewhere for my wedding where they would know me so I could feel relaxed. At the same time, I have been double booked and have waited for my appointment. Everything needed to go according to schedule! I set my appointment almost three months in advance for my bridesmaids and me. We went in once to have a consultation. On the week prior to my wedding I went in to make sure that everything was perfect with the schedule. I was very nonchalant about everything. I really like the staff there, and in the end my hair looked great and I couldn’t have had a better experience. I just made sure from the start that everything was set according to a good time efficient plan.

This is where we booked a block of rooms for our guests. The rooms were clean and nice and efficient, and much less than renting a room at the Ambassador Hotel (where we stayed). There was a bit of confusion over booking the rooms, which was easily solved. Our initial “block booking” was canceled, but everyone was still able to get rooms. The only problem was that instead of being altogether our guests were spread out all over the hotel. None of our guests minded, but we still brought the matter up with the manager. The manager apologized for the confusion, and we got 10% off the costs of the rooms.

At the suggestion of Justin from the Eagle’s Hall, we ordered several big bouquets/centerpieces for the stage and the entrance of the Hall. We were explained right away from Justin that to fill it up with flowers to make it look really ‘wedding’ would cost us thousands of dollars. We didn’t want to spend that much money on flowers, so we opted for several big bouquets and let the lights and atmosphere fill the rest of the space. The staff at Locker’s were amazingly creative about coming up with floral pieces that were big and powerful. They combined lots of different flowers and branches that took up a lot of space and looked rock and roll but still beautiful. We spent a few hours in the consultation talking about what we wanted, and they showed us lots of contemporary looks and styles. I was really happy that they wanted to work with us and helped up come up with a budget that worked. They showed us flowers that would be in season and cheaper alternatives, which, in the end, no one really notices. They deliver and everything looked fresh and great on the wedding day.
I’m a big fan of all the cooking shows, and I was really excited that the Eagle Hall would let us bring in our own cake. Our friend had ordered his wedding cake from Eat Cake! It was a fall-themed cake with all these red and yellow leaves. We wanted our cake to be a little bit more rock and roll, a bit more funky and cool. We didn’t know what we wanted, and Debbie worked with us to come up with an idea that we liked. In the end the style of cake we chose was covered in music notes, with love birds. It was very romantic. The cake tasted great, but what I really loved was how unique it looked. I would suggest to book an appointment with Debbie once you know your wedding date, and then work out something creative.
This is a great idea for shopping for bridesmaids’ dresses. I like shopping on ebay, because if you pay attention you can get really great deals. Ebay has a whole section for wedding apperal and accessories, and a huge section on bridesmaids dresses. You can visit the online stores of sellers that have bridesmaids dresses in bulk, which is what I did, and buy all the dresses from the same seller. I recommend checking the seller’s feedback: the feedback is what will tell you if the seller is recommended or not. The seller fashionwedding had a great selection of simple bridesmaids dresses in the color I wanted. The sizing chart they provided was very accurate and we only needed to do minimum alterations on the dress. Also, they came in the correct time frame. The quality of the dresses was excellent, and the same dress in the store would have cost $100 more.

My mother had arranged a really nice bridal shower at her house. She got lots of cheesy decorations from Wal-mart, and then she also had the food catered by G.Groppi’s. They have an amazing cheese and bread selection, and the also have a great selection of desserts and pastries. Everything is always fresh, and the people who work there have great charisma. Whenever we have a gathering of more than ten people, we usually order a few trays from Groppi’s because it’s great quality of food at a great price. My opinion is that they also have some of the best seafood in town, so if you’re on the market for good scallops (to prepare at home yourself) this is where you should go.
