I went to Victoria Secret twice, the first time was to buy cute presents for my bridesmaids, and the second time was to get some really good underwear and a bra for my wedding dress. I did not think of this while I was buying the dress, or I somehow thought that I had a nude color bra at home and for that reason did not buy one at the bridal shop. The week before the wedding I realised that I owned mostly black bras, so I went. Victoria Secret bras fit me well. I went in with the mindset that I would spend $100 on a bra and panty set if I needed to, but they have a great sale wall and I got my bra for $30.

Our hotel was great. I loved that it was less than a 10 minute drive from the restaurant, mainly because I was slightly drunk and I would have vomited in the car had the ride been longer. We ordered a room with a jacuzzi tub, which was nice. At the time I kept thinking that I really hope the cleaning ladies do a good job and scrub the bathtub well. The bed was comfy, and in the morning part of our package include breakfast in bed. They sent us up a continental breakfast. It was small but pretty good. I looked horrible after the wedding, and I wished I would have remembered to bring my own shampoos and stuff like that. I was smart enough to bring a change of clothing, other wise I would have left in my wedding dress.

I wanted a limousine, and finally my husband agreed to rent cars for our wedding day from Hertz car rental, but that we could have a pre-wedding party, just him and I, and ride a limousine around downtown. I think that was a better idea, because I didn’t really see my husband until we got to the church. My husband chose the limousine company, they showed up at our house on a Thursday night, and we had two hour drive around town sipping champagne and stopping to take pictures. We weren’t really dressed up, but the driver wore a suit and that made it more special. Also, we went though the McDonald’s drive through for fries and ice cream which is maybe the most fun thing I have ever done! I love it! It was special because it made our wedding ‘month’ seem longer, and it was one more memory to keep.

We only recently watched the video again, and it was really nice to have. They Glenn and his crew did a nice job and capturing people during really funny and honest moments, especially on the dance floor. I also loved being able to watch me and my husband exchange vows, and then our first dance. I think Glenn gives good advice on how long there needs to be a camera and photographer at the wedding. He got lots of great shots, and he wasn’t in the way, really polite and nice person to work with.

I was in Hallmark during Halloween, and I found all these boxes of Save the Date cards on sale for $1 each. The original price was $12.99 but the sales clerk said that wedding season was over and they just wanted to get rid of the inventory. Since each box had 16 cards in them, and since there was 10 boxes or so, I bought them all and this was what we used as Save the Date cards. My husband was impressed that I found the cards, and so was I. One of the boxes was open and two or three cards were dirty and we couldn’t use them, but overall the cards were really nice. I’m not sure if we would have sent out Save the Date cards if we didn’t find them this cheap. Hallmark has a sale rack, you never know what you will find there, but it’s worth it to check out if your at the mall.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dayton, and I made it a priority to arrange a dinner on the Thursday before the wedding with close friends and some family members. You walk in and it feels like your in New York or somewhere else that’s really trendy or posh. We asked friends and relatives with children to leave the kids at home, just because the atmosphere here is older and more mature, and it’s much more fun to have an all adult meal. It was great! It made up for the fact that I didn’t really have a bachelorette party. My father-in-law picked up the bill, which was nice of him. I think on average each person’s bill would have been $40, but that was with wine and beer.

I saw an ad in The Knot magazine for this company, and I figured that if they were in The Knot, then they must be a reliable and good online company to work with. I spent weeks looking at their cards online, and then trying to chose a font style and size that works. I had my husband help me when I had it narrowed down to two choices. The card set were less than $4 each, but they were exactly what we wanted. The cards were so beautiful, better than anything I found in stores here. I think that I was lucky to find Save the Date cards on sale at a local store, but they looked really cheap next to the ones we got online.

I had two consultations before the wedding, only because I wasn’t sure which style I wanted for my hair. My bridesmaids all have shoulder length hair or shorter, so it was more a matter of a blow-out and then a nice accessory. I had been growing my hair out for two years so that I could have something really pretty for the wedding. In the end the stylist asked about my dress style, and we were able to work on something that I liked based on the dress. Julie was a great stylist, I am so happy she was so patient with me! My hair looked great, I was much happier after the second consultation, and I looked beautiful in all my pictures.

We went to two florists, and this was the second place that I finally spoke to someone who was able to show me what I liked. It sounds strange, but seeing that I don’t know anything about flowers, other than what I see in magazines, I was really looking for a florist who would look at the pictures I brought in, let me explain my vision for the wedding, and then suggest something a bit more unique than what was in the picture. The first place was horrible, they had no sense of creativity. This place, though, was amazing. So creative, and they were so excited about the challenge that I put in front of them! They made me feel happy, and on the wedding day the flowers were perfect. They promised and delivered on what they promise. I recommend them to all the upcoming brides and friends who ask me about flowers.

For the wedding reception, we had three different kinds of chocolate fountain, which was really nice. I still wanted to have a wedding cake, and I read about a Groom’s cake, which is something that you can serve sometime before the wedding. We had it on the Friday at his parent’s house. My gift to my husband was to have the bakers make a cake in the shape of Maui, since we would be going there for our honeymoon. I thought the bakers would have told me I was crazy, but they said it would be a problem and then showed me different designs of how the cake could look. It was expensive, very colorful, and my husband was so surprised! The cake tasted great, really good, but I only had a small slice because I still needed to fit into my wedding dress the next day.
