Otto Rascon was our wedding photographer. My husband is also a photographer, so we selected this service with an educated eye. We loved Otto's photojournalistic background and artistic style. We ended up receiving a CD of all the images and he allowed us to do some multimedia design with it. He catered to our individual needs for our wedding day memories. Otto has a great personality, and is a wonderful person to have around on the big day. He paid attention to details that I wasn’t able to. He was on target the entire evening and we couldn't have been happier with the images we received. We highly recommend him!

For our wedding, we used Chicago Limousine service for our transportation needs. Everything with the actual limousine service was fine: clean, prompt, and as ordered. However, we ended up having a problem with the billing. The company charges based on how much time the service is used, and they ended up over-charging us for an additional couple of hours. We ended up getting reimbursed for this, but it was a hassle. Be sure to be clear about billing and charges, so you don't run into this same problem.

My husband rented his tuxedo from the Men's Wearhouse in Chicago. We had a small wedding, so he was the only one that needed a tux rental. Overall, we had no complaints. Men's Wearhouse had good pricing, the tuxedo fit great the day of our wedding, and we had an awesome selection to choose from. The staff was helpful and very customer service oriented.

I ended up purchasing my veil, last-minute, at a hat store in Detroit, MI. My husband told me three days before the wedding that he really wanted me to where a veil (I hadn't planned on it). The person at the store made me a beautiful fingertip length veil in three days-- and it only cost $50!!! It was definitely a unique way to go about it, but in ended up working well for me. At bridal shops, I noticed that most veils were well over $100.

The day after our wedding, we had a small luncheon at NoMi on top of the Park Hyatt. We had made reservations well in advance, but for some reason, when we arrived they did not have us listed. We ended up being seated, but it was toward the back of the restaurant. We didn't get to enjoy the amazing view, which was one of the perks of holding the occasion there. The food was excellent, but we were very disappointed in missing out on the view, because of their reservation mix-up.

I purchase my bridal gown from Brides by Demetrios, in Troy, MI. The staff was helpful, but not overbearing. The bridal consultant told me I would "just know" when I put the gown on. Well, it ended up being the second gown I tried on! I purchased my gown off the rack, so it was a very simple, easy process.

I purchased my bouquet from the flower shop at the Drake Hotel (my venue was just down the street). The Drake Florists did an exquisite job. The florist put together a beautiful arrangement of white callilies- they were beautiful and fresh, even though they were out of season. The shop had excellent customer service, I was very happy with all aspects of working with them.

The morning of my wedding, a got a massage at The Red Door Salon on Michigan Ave. I had called 4 or 5 different vendors to come to our hotel to provide the service, but since it was New Year's Eve, everyone was booked. In retrospect, I wish I would have planned this better because it would have been less stressful to have somebody come to me. So, inevitably, I had my massage at the Red Door, and my only complaint was that the massage therapist talked a lot. So you may want to mention that to the receptionist if you find this bothersome.

We held our rehearsal dinner at The Wave Restaurant, located in the W hotel on Lakeshore Drive. We had a most fun experience there. The food was not only delicious, but served with impeccable presentation. The atmosphere was cool and sophisticated, with interesting art deco on the walls and great lounge music playing in the background. My husband is a musician, so he especially appreciated the music selection.

We had a small wedding (about 20 people) at The W Hotel on Lakeshore Drive. Our wedding, at this location, was in a word, Awesome! They gave us a private room to watch fireworks and there was a game area for people to entertain themselves when we were taking photographs. The space photographed beautifully, they have all sorts of modern furniture and interesting decor. The food and our stay that evening were both flawless. It was a perfect way to have the small, intimate wedding we had wanted in a unique, modern, urban space.
