My husband got me a Tiffany ring. I think the two of us waited so long to get married that we really didn’t set a bar at what we would spend on the wedding. We are both working professionals, and this is our first marriage, so it seemed okay to spend a weekend in NYC looking at the original Tiffany’s and picking out a ring there. It was kind of hard to get an appointment, but they are great at making sure that they greet everyone. I would also say that because we were a bit dressed up I think they did treat us nicer. I’m not that obvious that I can’t see they see a couple that is willing and ready to spend lots of money.

I ordered my cake-topper online. I had seen in Modern Bride how you can have the initials of the couple, and that’s what I wanted. I thought it looked really chic. I ordered online, and the S&H was a bit much, but I couldn’t think of any local stores that would carry wedding toppers like the one I wanted. It now sits on our mantel in the living room.

The hotel we chose for our wedding night was nice enough, but we really didn't spend much time in the room. We stayed at our party until 4am. By the time we got to our room, which was really pretty, all the rose petals on the bed had wilted and the ice in the champage bucket had melted. It was rather funny. And having a noon checkout is no different than a 10am checkout, we spent most of the morning packing up the room. The room is pretty, but I don’t think I would spend that kind of money on a room for one night.

This is a great local diner/restaurant that I don’t think most people know about. We really liked having our out-of-town guests eat here with us because it is a cosy place, and the food is comfort food. I think most people like the menu, and especially the wine menu. They have a great wine menu, which is great because we are a couple that likes wine.

Instead of going to a make-up artist, I went to have my nails and toes nails done. This is a pretty fancy place, and they do an amazing job. It took about an hour for my toes because they soak them and then rub off all the calluses. They do a great job with the toes, though they don’t necessarily give the best French manicures. I have gone elsewhere and have had better French manicures, but they have the best overall store.

We bought our invitations online because we knew that it would be the cheaper than trying to make them ourselves, and it was also really convenient to shop in front of the computer. I was really pleased with the shipping part, I was happy that none of the cards were dented in the mailing process. I think the cards were also very unique.

I had my hair done on my wedding day, but I don’t think I would have done this again. I basically just wanted my hair blown out and have a few curls in it. It was so simple what I wanted that I realized that I could have just done it myself. It took less than 15 minutes. Luckily I go here all the time and they just charged me for a blow out rather than the full wedding day up-do price.

I did have a bouquet done. I had remember seeing a bouquet I loved in People magazine, and I cut it out and brought it to this shop. I chose the shop because of proximity and because this is usually where I go to buy flowers. They are more on the upscale size, but they were willing to make my bouquet. It was fun sitting there as they listed all the flowers in the bouquet and how much it would cost to make the bouquet. It was a beautiful cascading bouquet, and I loved it very much. My only regret is that I didn’t take better care of it during the evening so that I could have preserved it.

We liked the idea of bottling our own wine and then giving out bottles as presents. We also were able to bottle enough bottles to serve at our own wedding. The place is close enough, and the owners and workers there were really helpful. I also really liked the labels we had on the bottles. This might have been one of my favorite wedding things.

We did get married at a church at the request of my mother. It wasn’t an easy task. They don’t just let you get married in a Catholic church. Luckily things worked out, we met with the priest a bunch of times, and we got the date we wanted. I would also say that the inside of a Catholic church is rather beautiful, and that it does feel like a special place. St Andrews is really beautiful, perhaps one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. This church in particular has beautiful glass windows.
