We rented two minivans and a nicer car for the wedding weekend. We had so many guests from out of town, and lots of older people who wouldn’t drive at night, that we figured this was a nice alternative for them. The booking went fine, and the cars were great, and we were so happy to have two mini vans on the day of the wedding. My only problem was that we were there for two hours, or almost two hours, when it came time to pick up the cars. I still don’t understand why it took so long. We were all a little frustrated, including the person working there. If we go back a second time and they have computer problems we’ll know it was them and not us.

the wedding website lets you have a free website, and guests will RSVP whether they are coming to the wedding or not. I would say that this didn’t work so well. Many of our friends saw the site and said that they love the site, but very few of them RSVP on the site. We still had to chase down people to make sure whether they were coming or not. The site idea is nice, but it was work and in the end it didn’t really help us with our planning. Maybe if there was a feature that would let us add in guests manually that RSVP, that would be a good idea. And to have a better print feature, so that we could print up the list in a legible manner.

This is where I usually get my haircut and colored. They do a great job with highlights, and they never get a drop of dye on you. I went two weeks before the wedding to have my hair cut and colored, and then two days before I had a hot oil treatment. One of my best friends was going to be styling my hair for me, which was going to be really simple, so I didn’t get an appointment for an wedding day hair style. They were a little dispointed, but they were still happy for me. I’ve seen the book of wedding day hair my usual stylist does, and she is talented. If it was what I wanted, I would have gone here.

My husband had booked this place for his college friends who were single because the rooms were very cheap for one person to rent. I stopped by once to drop off gift baskets, and I thought the staff was nice. She let me into the rooms to leave the gift baskets, but she first called my husband to make sure I really was his wife to be. The rooms were fine, and it’s close by the highway so it’s really easy to get to the inn, and it’s also easy to get downtown or anywhere else from there. It’s very central.

In the end this worked out very well, but it took lots of planning. My sister suggested being green and having potted plants as centerpieces. I also like the idea of buying some bigger potted plants, like palm trees, and then taking them home afterwards. We imagined that we would have saved money in this way, but it did cost more than we estimated. We filled the pots with the flowers we bought at first, and then they looked less full. Our only alternative was to buy more flowers or moss, which was what the salesclerk suggested. The staff was great, because many of them understood what we wanted to do. In the end our budget for flowers was over $300, but we gave away the pots (which were really beautiful) as gifts to the family.

I wanted fun and quirky accessories and favors for the bridesmaids. I wanted to get things in bright yellow, some that would be good for the reception and ceremony, and others that would be fun to have during some of our crazy photoshoots. I love Icing because they have so many things in that store that just work, and that are fancy enough for bridesmaids. I was lucky and the color yellow was very popular, and I was able to get feather boas and sunglasses, and also so pretty hair clips and rings and bracelets. I think the staff was very helpful, but I think their sales are misleading. I think they could have better sales or promotions.

One thing that I liked about this company is that they were representing several djs, so you could call one place and be able to have several djs that could be available for your wedding date. The second thing I liked was that the DJs have several set lists ready, so you go over the music and say “yes/no” to the songs they have, and they took down our requests as well. They were great! We had 5.5 hours of great music, beginning from the end of dinner to midnight, which was perfect!

We did not take dance lessons, but we did take yoga together, and this was a set of classes that we signed up for in the months leading up to the wedding. Someone that we really respected suggested that this would be a way of getting our spiritual song in sync (which is like dancing, right?). The classes were great! Anthony, the teacher, is patient and great, and the people in the class are really understanding. The atmosphere is very open, and it welcomes people that are just there for health reasons as well as the people who take yoga as a form of lifestyle. People didn’t judge us if we showed up smelling like burger king.

My cake was beautiful, but at the end of the wedding I only spent maybe three minutes with my cake. I didn’t even eat more than a bite of cake until the next day. That being said, if you want to spend lots of money on something you won’t really get to see, but want your guests to see something great, get a cake from Ashely’s Pastry shop. People were mailing me pictures of my cake for weeks afterwards. The cake was expensive, but since people loved it, and since the slice I had the next day was great, I would say that it was worth it. How expensive? It was more than my husband’s suit.

I think the layout of the store is rather ugly, and I also think they have bad lighting, but they have a great selection of formal dresses. When we went shopping the manager was on duty, and she was able to point out all the dresses that would suit a bridesmaids. DEB has lots of young and sexy looking dresses, but they also have the classic black dress, and beautiful simple dresses. You just have to look for them. We didn’t buy the dresses that day, but we did go back a week later and buy the dresses that the manager showed us. I think she is an excellent manager, and she did her job very well.
