The resort we stayed in for our honeymoon was incredible. The food was amazing, the best I've ever had at an all inclusive resort. And with the RIU resort we were able to eat, drink and use the facilities at 4 other resorts nearby. The staff was friendly at all of them and really got to know you after a few nights. They would just keep bringing us glasses of champagne, we didn't even have to order them!

They also arranged a sunset cruise and monster truck safari for us and both were spectacular.

Our honeymoon suite had a beautiful view of the lush green resort grounds and palm trees. Our fridge was stocked with fresh drinks, bottles of champagne and water every day. Plus a little bit of towel sculptures every day, accompanied by fresh flowers.

When I got married in the Dominican Republic last year I wanted my husband to be comfortable on the beach in the sun so I didn't want him in a suit. Islandimporter.com has a great selection of light weight dress shirts and pants. I bought the grooms, best man's and groomsmen's shirts through the website and everything was shipped within a week. I had to send a few things back to change sizes but everything was relatively painless.

Their linen shirts and pants are a great way to keep the men cool but still look dressy for a wedding party.

I was doing a destination wedding so I wanted to find make up that would stand up to the sun for a few hours while we got married. I went into MAC cosmetics in South gate mall and told the girls there exactly my needs. They quickly and easily found make up that looked great on me and was perfect for the climate I was going to.

For the price of what I might have spent having my make up done at the resort I got make up I can use for the next year and its the best make up I've ever worn in my life. I will definitely continue to get my cosmetics there. Its pricey but completely worth it.

For my stagette we went to the west edmonton mall waterpark. The staff there organized a little roped off area where the whole group could be together. We were provided sandwiches and drinks, etc.

We chose to do a destination wedding and after all the resorts I looked at I would strongly suggest getting married at a RIU resort if you are planning a destination wedding. They have the best packages for weddings, even FREE weddings.

We used the free wedding package and we had 24 guests. The resort let us add on anything we wanted for a small fee. So we added extra champagne for everyone after the beach ceremony, extra cake, extra flowers and a private reception where we rented out one of the restaraunts at the resort. I could not have asked for a simpler wedding to plan. The wedding coordinators there are amazing. They do more than 1 wedding a day and they still have everything correctly organized and are even still present at the wedding to make sure everything runs smoothly.

If you are feeling overwhelmed in planning a wedding in Canada I highly suggest doing a destination wedding to ease the pain!

My husband and I were married in Canada before our actual wedding day because we were having our wedding in the Dominican Republic and did not want to go through all the legal work and translations of having it be official down there.

We used customvows.ca and Brian was our officiant. We just had a small private ceremony at our dining room table at our house one Saturday afternoon. Parents were in attendance and it was nice and short and sweet (although I think it did take longer than our ceremony in the Dominican Republic). He made sure we understood all the vows we were saying and everything we were signing, etc. The whole thing took about an hour which left the rest of the day to enjoy with family sipping champagne!

I bought my bridesmaid's dress at this shop and the ladies there were also very helpful. My dress ended up getting stuck in Toronto at one point and they made sure that it was shipped express to Edmonton and I got it in time.

Despite having to wait about a month for everything to come in all the wedding favours I ordered from this website came out perfectly and exactly the way displayed on their website.
The satin ribbon name tags were a little on the cheap side (some frayed and some had the lettering rub off) but other than that everything I ordered was exactly what I wanted.

The ladies who deal with destination weddings at Uniglobe Travel are priceless if you are planning a destination wedding. They have all kinds of reviews on resorts and will help you pin point exactly what you want in the resort and tell you what kinds of things there will be to do for your guests.

They also print FREE invitations for you and provide cute little name tags and a package for each guest upon departure.

My travel agent was one of the ways I had to speak with the wedding coordinators at the resort in the Dominican Republic. If I didn't get a response through email my travel agent would call down there and make sure they were making notes on everything I wanted on my special day.

P.S. if you book a destination wedding through them you get free luggage which is of atleast $1500 value. They are Victoriaknox (swiss army) bags and they are amazing. ALSO you can get a free upgrade to first class on your flights and honey moon suite at the resort. Now that I've travelled first class I never want to go back to coach!
Also depending on the resort you choose the tour operators will offer you a "kick back". For every 21 guests that attended my wedding at the resort I chose, I got $1600 back. It's pretty easy to get the bride and groom to travel for free!

The ladies who work at Bridal Debut are more than helpful. I went into the store with one thing in mind for my dress and ended up in something completely different that I would have never tried on if it weren't for them offering a few other styles for me to try.

The lady who does the alterations at the store is AMAZING. She made my dress look absolutely stunning on me with all the alterations she had to do, hemming and bringing just about the whole dress in.

They also have pictures of other peoples weddings that you can scan through to get some good ideas. I saw a picture of my dress at a destination wedding in the water and that gave me the idea to do the same thing at my destination wedding. The pictures were priceless.
