I called Alexa Bridal a several weeks ago to see if they had a dress I wanted to see. They said they didn't, but they would order it and have it there for my appointment on Nov 14th. I emailed the owner one week ahead of time to confirm that the dress would be there and she responded, "yes." So, I flew my sister from Kansas City to NYC and grabbed my bridesmaids and we headed up to Alexa Bridal. First of all, two young girls (teenagers?) were running the place and were completely clueless as to what was going on. Second, there was a woman who walked in just before I did and she didn't have an appointment (and I did) and they immediately started helping her get into dresses while ignoring me (the one with the appt!) I had to interrupt and tell her I had an appointment and I told them about the dress that was supposed to be there for me to try on. They knew nothing about it and didn't seem to care about my dilemma. I asked if they didn't have a system for situations like this, like requested dresses being set aside for the brides. They said "no." I asked them if they could call the person who said she'd have the dress in, or the manager. When they did, the manager said she had a meeting and didn't call me back for two hours! When she finally did call back, she said the dress had come in on Tuesday and was confused as to why the girls couldn't find it. They searched everywhere and there WAS NO DRESS! I was so upset at their inability to live up to what they'd promised, their lack of responsiveness when it was obvious there was a problem, and the laxidasical attitude of the careless teenagers running the shop. One girl tried to blame it on move from Dobbs Ferry and renovations, but it was clear that no one knew what was going on. Now, my sister is going back to KC and won't get to see me in the gown that may be my wedding dress. I actually went to David's Bridal today and, believe it or not, had an experience that was one thousand times better!
