David Carr was the DJ at my friend’s wedding, so we had heard him before we hired him. He was kind, sincere, easy to work with, organized, and incorporated all of our suggestions. We could tell that he cared and wanted to give us exactly what we wanted. He did his best to keep the dance floor going (it was really cold and windy, so people started leaving), and my mom even danced with my new parents-in-law, which was no easy feat.

My invitations from My Candy Paper were beautiful and reasonably priced. I got several compliments on them. My only concern was that it took much longer than anticipated for me to get them; they were supposed to be completed in 5 weeks, but it actually took about 11 weeks. We received them the day we had planned to mail them. I wish I could have seen a proof of the RSVP card, as it was missing the line for people to write their names on, but most people just created their own line so it turned out okay. Because of the delay, our calligrapher didn’t have enough time to address the envelopes, so I ended up addressing them myself. Maria was sweet though and did overnight mail free table numbers to me because of the delay. I’d highly recommend Maria; just make sure you have plenty of time.

We had a towncar from Discount Sedan and Limousine transport us from our reception venue to our hotel after the wedding. The driver was on time and accommodated my husband's request for a bathroom stop along the ride home. The car was clean and comfortable, and the service was reasonably priced.

We gave out alfajores (little Peruvian cookies) from Mama Ocllo as our favors. I had tried them at Bay Cities Deli before and loved them. They were delicious and inexpensive; several guests asked where we had gotten them. Rosa of Mama Ocllo was sweet and very easy to work with! She sent complimentary samples across the country to me so I could figure out the right size to get for my favor boxes, answered all of my questions relatively quickly, and even hand delivered the cookies to me at my parents’ house a couple days before the wedding.

We bought caramel apples in bulk from California Snacks a few days before our wedding. They were cheap and added a fun touch to our fall-ish wedding.

Robert played the bagpipes before our wedding ceremony. He was recommended to us by our string quartet, Fiddlestix. He looked great in his kilt and sounded great too. He lead our guests to the ceremony area while playing his bagpipes, which added a special touch. We recommend him, as he was easy to work with, sounded great, and was reasonably priced.

Meredith did my hair and makeup for my wedding recently. She was sweet, easy to work with, and gave me the natural look that I wanted. My hair looked great and stayed in place all night long, even though it was extremely windy outside. She and her assistants were all on time (several were half an hour early) and were efficient and professional. Meredith also left little touch up bags for my bridesmaids and me, which were helpful.

We booked Fiddlestix on the spot after hearing them play because they were super sweet and sounded great. Their rates were quite reasonable and Margaret was extremely easy to work with. Margaret was on the ball and offered lots of good suggestions for songs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this group.

My venue required that I have a dog trainer present in order to have my dogs in my wedding ceremony. I searched the internet, contacted a number of trainers, and decided on Karen Taylor of My Best Friend Obedience. She was very quick to respond to my emails and phone calls and was extremely easy to work with. She offered helpful suggestions for places to board our dogs. She arrived on time and handled my dogs beautifully before, during, and after the ceremony. She kept them calm and quiet, and was able to get them to pose in our pictures with us. She then whisked them away to a boarding place we had chosen (we changed the place at the last minute, which didn't seem to faze her) after the ceremony.

We chose a layer of the dark and light chocolate cake, and two layers of te strawberry cake for our wedding cake. The cake itself was light, moist, and absolutely delicious. We got lots of compliments on it. My only complaint was that it didn't look the way it should have looked. I had a relatively simple design; dark brown bands around an ivory cake, with some swirl designs on the brown bands. The bands ended up being a reddish orange color and were glaringly crooked and uneven around each layer of cake. It looked really sloppy and it ended up being kind of embarrassing to stand next to it during the cake cutting.
