we went to the Dreams Cancun resort in cancun, mexico. it is all-inclusive so all drinks, meals, room service, minibar, and a range of activities are all included in the price. my husband and i had a GREAT time . . it's on the atlantic ocean side of mexico, where the water is a clear turquoise blue. (husband's parents actually went to puerto vallarta the same week we went to cancun, and when they saw our pix, they commented that if their beach was as pretty & clean as ours they woudl have spent more time laying at the beach than going on tours! )
we booked everything thru orbtiz, so the flight & hotel was approx $2k for 4 days, 5 nites. we do NOT recommend orbitz b/c they gave us terrible customer service when we needed to change the honeymoon dates . . but we HIGHLY recommend Dreams Cancun!

we had both our ceremony & reception outside on the LA River Center Grounds. all our guests had nothing but compliments for the venue and loved not having to drive in traffic to a separate location for the reception. as someone mentioned previously, it IS a lot of work b/c you have to arrange all your own rentals, catering, beverage service, etc . . . but in the end, everything turns out so beautiful that it is worth it. i'm including a link to my wedding slideshow b/c the LARC's own website does not do it justice:

i had my wedding in may so i can't really speak from personal experience about having a wedding during rainy season. however, i htink the standard protocol if weather turns to rain is to bring the wedding indoors . . . which is a shame, b/c you pay all this money for the beautiful grounds. if you absolutely have to have your wedding in the spring, i would find another location that is indoors.
Shelby Nolan, of Green Leaf Designs, was a pleasure to work with. A friend of mine recommended her to me and I am so glad I went with Shelby. She had a lot of ideas and really reasonable prices (compared to other florists, such as petals by xavi). Her creations are beautiful and I got so many compliments on my ceremony arch, bouquet, and centerpieces. She works out of orange county, but services extend to Orange & LA county areas.
jenna was great. i had my trial with her (i think it was $40-50, i forget) and she gave me good feedback. she was really thorough and took pictures of the final result of the trial plus wrote some notes down in her notebook. her deposit for the wedding day is $50 also.
like someone mentioned previously, she doesn't charge any travel fees and comes as early as you need to. in fact, my wedding day itinerary changed and i had to ask her to come in earlier than planned . . . plus, at the last minute my maidofhonor decided she needed help with her hair so jenna agreed to come even earlier.
the day of the wedding, i asked her to slightly modify the hairstyle and she was able to give me exactly what i wanted. jenna can also handle different types of hair. i have normal textured hair that is really thick and my hair stayed up all day long . . . probably could have lasted for 3 days if i coudl sleep with all the pins in my hair. my maid of honor has really coarse, curly, unruly heavy hair that she gets regularly treated with the japanese chemical straightening so that it is stick straight. jenna was able to give her hair beautiful curls that lasted all day long.
another wonderful thing about jenna is that she is so sweet and pleasant to work with. i highly recommend her . . . contact her immediately b/c she books up really quickly!
