The cake was provided in my wedding package from my venue. My husband and I met with them for a tasting and to pick out the design.
Larissa was very nice at our tasting, and the cake they provided was delicious. I also gave her a photo of what we'd like the cake to look like, and she said it would be no problem.
Day of the wedding, the cake did have the "look" we wanted it to, but when you got up close, the design work was a bit sloppy- almost like someone's hand had the shakes as they were drawing.
When we went to cut the cake, it was actually a bit hard, like it was still partially frozen. It didn't taste great (my husband swears it was stale), but it looked nice enough for being free.
Nancy (the owner) is an absolute sweetheart to work with. At our first meeting, prior to even booking her, she spend 3+ hours with us. She truly loves what she does, and it shows.
When we were choosing flowers, she told us upfront if they were easily available or not that time of year, and instead of just letting us pay ridiculous amounts of money to get them from Holland, she suggested some alternatives that were cheaper but just as beautiful.
The ceremony decor flowers, centerpieces, and room decor flowers were all gorgeous. Nancy's staff even took the flowers that were decorating the chairs along the aisles after the ceremony and arranged inside the ballroom, as well as in the ladies room.
My bouquet was GORGEOUS and different. My bridesmaids all loved their flowers, and the groomsmen's boutineers were perfect, and lasted all night.
The only negative I could say was that the flower used for the groom's boutineer began wilting before the ceremony even began (hanging petals and all), and was completely disheveled by the time we were ready to take pictures after the ceremony. Luckily, a quick-thinking bridesmaid took a flower from her bouquet, and we used that for his boutineer for the rest of the evening.
All in all, we were very pleased (with the exception of the groom's boutineer). In terms of pricing, she's not cheap, but our final balance fell in the middle of the price range estimate she gave us.

Our DJ, Billy Delaney, was beyond fabulous. If you love classic rock, this is your guy!
We had him provide music for the ceremony as well as the reception. Pre-ceremony music began as our guests arrived, and went right on through to the reception!
Not only did he keep the dance floor PACKED (sometimes there was swaying room only!), but he was professional, fun, and incredibly personable. He knows how to throw a rockin party- I don't think he played one bad song all night.
He kept his speaking parts (intros for the bridal party, first dance, father daughter dance, toasts, cake cutting, and bouquet toss) brief and to the point, while still doing an fantastic job and making everyone laugh.
Our in-office experiences were always positive- Gerry runs a great company. We met with our DJ Billy a few weeks prior to our wedding to go over music choices (which included us providing him a "do not play" list) and he totally put us at ease.
Our friends (young and old) keep telling us that they have never been to a wedding that played such great music, keeping those from their teens to their 60's all on the floor at the same time.
Golden Note delivers a fine product- I would hire them (and Billy!) again in a heartbeat.

Michelle was amazing! Before my wedding, I went to her for a hair and makeup trial. While it looked great, I changed my mind on the look I wanted, and went back in for a second trial. She really took the time to listen to what I wanted, and stayed true to what I had asked.
On the afternoon of my wedding, she and Rosalie arrived at my hotel on time and got right into gear! They not only did my hair and airbrush makeup, but also makeup for one of my bridesmaids, 4 bridesmaids updos, the flowergirl's hair, my mother's hair and makeup, and my grandmother's hair. Each girl chose their own look, and they carried out their requests perfectly. EVERYONE was ecstatic with the results, and looked flawless all night long.
She's sweet, professional, and fun. Definitely the type of personality you'd want around on your wedding day; and since she's young, she fit right in with me and my girls.
Some hair & makeup artists make you look over-done. The best part of Michelle's work was that I still looked like me, just a bit more glamorous!

One of the places my fiance and I looked at, but didn't book.
We wanted an outside wedding, and our options were the gazebo on the front lawn overlooking the lovely highway, or a small courtyard in the entryway of the building that held 60ish people. The rest would have to stand and hope to be able to see.
We were expecting it to look like a vineyard, not just a building off of the highway. The ballroom was simple and small, and would be appropriate for a smaller, more casual wedding.
The staff was nice, and they do have fabulous wines.

One of the places my fiance and I looked at, but didn't book.
Their outdoor ceremony site was cute. However, the room they move you into for your cocktail hour could probably hold 20 people comfortably, and they expect 160+ to be able to fit(No joke). Then if your guests wanted to sit during the cocktail hour, they'd have to walk back to the ceremony area, as there was no seating.
If you need a place that is handicapped accessible, or don't want to worry about your grandparents having a hard time getting around, then this place isn't it. The paths outside were sloped and winding with lots of stairs, which was the only way to get to the cocktail hour area.
The ballrooms upstairs were the "usual." They include your floral centerpieces in your package, which on the day we were there, were simple bunches of roses in a glass vase. We found out that there would be another wedding going on literally in the same room- just separated by a moving partition.
My fiance and I had an appointment to view their facility, showed up on time, only to have to wait for someone to show up- there was no one waiting or anyone to tell us where to go. The staff we had spoken to on the phone was rude, and the individual who showed us around was equally impolite.
The decor & wallpaper reminded me of what I'd expect to find in a elderly woman's home, and the rooms for the cocktail hour had no "flow" and were awkwardly spaced. Their outdoor ceremony site would have been quite beautiful if you were not looking into their parking lot, with sounds of the highway which is directly behind the property. The flowers planted along the walkways and off of the porch were all dying and brown.
When we inquired about a tasting, as my family has a culinary background and food was very important part of our decision process, we were told that they do not do tastings. I could wait a few months and come to a bridal show they were having, but was told "we would be booked for your date by then anyways."
So then I asked if he could provide me with some references, and no joke, he said "Why bother. I'd just give you my niece, and my friend's daughter who wouldn't say anything bad anyways." He also made sure to remark to me "By the way, don't believe any reviews you read online. Writers are liars." He made a lovely face when he found out what I did for a living....writing.
Don't waste your time. There are much nicer facilities with PROFESSIONAL staff available.
