Hotel Metro was a romantic and one-of-a-kind place to stay on my wedding night. The employee with whom I booked the room was professional and friendly. The room itself was beautiful—it had a fireplace; a roomy, spa-type bathtub; and a comfortable bed. My husband and I also received a bottle of sparkling wine once we got up to our room. The only reason I did not rate it 5 stars is that I thought the room was a little expensive. But, overall, the rooms are decorated nicely, the hotel is in a great location, and I would definitely recommend it for a wedding night stay.

This is a prime location for a Milwaukee wedding reception. Because it is located right along the lakefront and right next to the art museum, it is an ideal place for photographs. Also, my guests really appreciated being able to enjoy the beautiful weather of my wedding day by eating appetizers and socializing out on the plaza before dinner. My husband and I also took pictures outside toward the end of the evening, which was exciting as well. The Milwaukee War Memorial is a historical modern building that was once (and may still be) considered one of the most architecturally-significant buildings in the city. I highly recommend it. The War Memorial needs to be reserved many months in advance, and with good reason—it is a place for a “Dream Reception.”

I first met Ms. Gumieny a wedding show, almost two years before my wedding. At that show, I made an appointment with her, and the very next week, I booked her to do my wedding photography. Immediately upon meeting her, I felt comfortable and at ease with her, and was intrigued by her beautiful display pictures. She also seemed very professional and knowledgeable, and was able to answer all my questions thoroughly. Her photography style is, simply, elegant. Almost all of the pictures she took on my wedding day were flattering, which was impressive (especially considering how busy and chaotic the day was!). She and her assistant proved to be skilled at capturing the special moments of the day that otherwise would’ve been forgotten—and did it with style and enthusiasm. Ms. Gumieny was a really wonderful part of my wedding day. She made taking pictures fun and memorable, and I have enjoyed working with her in designing my wedding photo album.

Pastor Betty Baires of Our Savior's Lutheran Church was the Interim Pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church at the time I got married. I met her several months before my wedding. She is one of the kindest Pastors that I have ever met, and definitely the best preacher. She is sincere, and her teachings/sermons are clear and meaningful. She, along with another Pastor (from my childhood church), performed my wedding ceremony together, which my husband, family, and I really enjoyed. There is just something special about her. She is unique and truthful, and was a joy to have as an Officiant.

Stacy has been my hairstylist for the past 11 years, so naturally, I was anxious to have an appointment scheduled with her for my wedding day! She is the absolute best hairstylist I’ve met in Wisconsin, not only because of her talent and expertise, but also because she listens to what her clients want and styles their hair accordingly. She provided a classic, elegant up-do for my wedding day. In the past, as a bridesmaid, I have had to endure other stylists who, when asked to do this type of hairstyle, did something completely different (and unflattering). Not Stacy. She styled my hair just perfectly during the trial run, and again for the wedding. She is dependable, friendly, and highly recommended.

I cannot speak highly enough of Redeemer Lutheran Church; the building itself and its caring members made it the most special place possible to have a wedding. Since I first visited the building in high school, I wanted to get married there. It is a well-kept, sacred, well-proportioned, and timelessly beautiful church. Also, my family and I have been attending services there for the past few years, and we have enjoyed spending time with the members. Redeemer Lutheran will stay in my heart as the highlight of my wedding. It has a beautiful pipe organ and pretty lighting; also, it was fun standing outside to take pictures after the ceremony (people driving and walking by cheered for us, making our day even more exciting!). It was a blessing and honor to be able to get married there.

Chef Jack’s is the ultimate wedding caterer. I was blessed that my parents chose Chef Jack’s for my wedding catering. All of the staff members are courteous and attentive to detail; after meeting with them at the complimentary food tasting provided at their facility, my family was confident that Chef Jack’s would provide a high-quality meal and service to their guests. Many of my wedding guests continue to comment (five months later!) on how delicious the food was at my reception—much better than at any they’ve ever attended before. Most importantly, Chef Jack’s’ managers made sure all aspects of the food service went smoothly at the reception from beginning until the very end. They paid special attention to my husband and me, bringing food to us when we were busy talking with guests. One of my favorite vendors!

My wedding cake was the most delicious and unique cake that I (any most of my wedding guests) have ever tasted! Simma’s makes several flavors of cheesecake, and they customized mine (mocha-chocolate-chip with a raspberry layer). The employees are attentive and are clearly experts in their field. They provided a complimentary cake-tasting, with generous-sized samples of about eight of their different types of cake. They also made an affordable trial-size cake that I purchased about one year before the wedding. When it came time to decide on decorations, the employees were helpful with color and design selections. I had a beautiful, delicious, and one-of-a-kind cake. I only wish that the cake would have turned out to be a little larger-looking than it was. I highly recommend Simma’s.
Excellent show; spacious facility. This is where I met my wedding photographer. The lines moved quickly, so my Mom, sister, and I didn’t have to wait long to get into the show. This show provided a chance to meet the largest number of wedding vendors compared to other bridal shows I went to in the Milwaukee area. Also, the wide aisles made it comfortable to walk around, especially considering the large number of people attending. I rated it a 4 because the show/facility was somewhat noisy compared to others; however, definitely the most informative.

I had a really helpful bridal consultant who “watched over” my to-be dress after I tried it on but needed to bring my Mom in the next day before I could buy it. Believe it or not, the very first dress I tried on here became my wedding dress! All of the salespeople were very friendly, and I thought the prices were great; also, they have an excellent and affordable selection of bridesmaid dresses in a wide variety of colors and styles. The other bridal shops I went to had a much more limited selection of gowns, many of which seemed overpriced. The only reason that I didn’t give David’s a 5-star rating is because their alterations department really made me nervous. Most of the alterations people I worked with seemed attentive and competent; however, I had to have the Alterations Manager re-do the bead replacement on my dress after one of the other employees did it incorrectly. Overall, David’s has pretty gowns at respectable prices, and I would recommend them to other brides.
