NY Wedding Dance is simply the best! Four months prior to our wedding, DH panicked about dancing our first dance. He was adamant about not doing the “sway.” So we search and visited several dance studios around the city. Most were distracting and overcrowded. We noticed couples had to share the same studio. Other studios didn’t have convenient times for private lessons. We chose NY Wedding Dance based on a few things. First, the studio itself was large, clean and elegant. And more importantly, is not shared with other couples. You have the entire studio to yourself. Second, they were available for Saturday and Sunday lessons, perfect for us who work long hours during the week. Some studios were not open on the weekends. And finally, unlike the other studio reps, Amy, one of the instructors, was such a sweetheart, very attentive and answered all of our questions. Good vibes from the beginning!
We signed up for a package of I think six or eight one-hour lessons with Leslie who was simply the best! We had an unconventional first dance song, “Clarity” by John Mayer but Leslie loved it and made it work for us. She started out with very simple steps (good for us who never had formal dance lessons before) and gradually added to it. But she ensured that we mastered each move before moving on to the next step. Once we got the basic moves down, she then helped us time the steps to our song. Then we practiced and practiced! When the day came, we danced our dance successfully and it was so well received! Later in the evening, we used the same steps that we learned and improvised our own last dance to “You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three” by Big Bad Voodoo Daddies. Even though it wasn’t as clean as our first dance, it was certainly fun and we are very proud of it thanks to Leslie!
I recommend taking dance lessons in general and HIGHLY recommend NY Wedding Dance. They make this one “to-do task” for the wedding fun and stress relieving!

Learned about Elegancia from a few friends who had hired them for their own weddings and was told that they were excellent. The DJ I met with was honestly a nice and professional guy. So I happily and confidently booked with them. I had even attended a friend’s wedding in Long Island and was pleased with the selection of music and skill of getting a party going while maintaining elegance and formality. For our wedding they did do some things correctly. 1) They edited our introduction music perfectly to fit the timing of our bridal party entrance. 2) They chose great music to get the party going. And 3) the DJ was never cheesy or chatty which I really, really liked. He kept it simple and elegant but still kept the party going.
However, I regretfully gave them a rating of 2 stars based on a few mishaps but one of them being pretty major. The first mistake was our first dance song. Elegancia has the skill and technical resources to edit music because they did a wonderful job with editing the introduction music, so we were disappointed that they didn’t edit our first dance song. We had asked the DJ to fade out our song at a certain point because our choreographed dance ended with a dip at that point. Unfortunately, after we dipped the song continued rather than fade out. I know for sure our videographer captured my perturbed husband giving the DJ the “cut-the-music” signal with his hand. Hopefully, the videographer will fade that part out.
Second, we are also not sure that they played the one line dance song that we allowed, Todo Todo. My Filipino family is crazy about line dancing like the Electric Slide and the Macarena but we banned them. Instead, we allowed only for Todo Todo as the one acceptable assisted dance song but according to a few of my older guests, it was never played and they were disappointed. This didn’t make sense because we did write this out on their very own music form.
The more MAJOR mistake was the mother-son dance. Weeks prior to the wedding day, we had met with our DJ and gave him a typed up list and CD with our important songs such as cake cutting and mother-son dance songs. When the moment arrived, they announced that the groom will now dance with his mother. However, the DJ did not have the song on his list and after five minutes, he had to walk over to the sweetheart table to ask me what the song was while DH and MIL stood still on the dance floor waiting for the music to come up. I told him it was “In My Life” by the Beatles. After what seemed like another five minutes (eternity for poor DH), the music comes up but it was the wrong Beatles song. It was a very awkward moment for DH and needless to say, he was very upset. I wished they had not announced at all the mother-son dance if they were not prepared because DH and MIL were obviously embarrassed. Afterwards, I looked at the list that we had given him and sure enough, the correct song was listed on the sheet so I cannot explain why he didn’t have the song on the day of.
I will not deny that we still had a great time with music and dancing after the mishaps. Then again, it’s your day as a bride so you shouldn’t let these things bother you. But there are no reasons for these mishaps which would only add needless stress to your day. Therefore, I do not recommend Elegancia Entertainment.

Thanks to Charmeng, I learned about Party Booths and was ecstatic when I also learned that they services nationwide, including New Jersey. There are several reasons why I think Party Booths was the best choice for us. First and foremost, the affordability. It really was the most inexpensive photo booth rental I can find. Second, they had an option for a large booth, called the contemporary booth, which allowed for up to 6 adults to fit. And with my big family and friends, we were even able to fit more people into the booth than those old fashioned two seater booths. Third, the look of the simple black box maintained an air of elegance in my uber fancy venue. It sort of mirrored the simple black box of our DJ station. Not loud, distracting, out of place, just perfect.
Party Booths also offers many options such as black and white, sepia, double prints, as well as a choice of color background and logo etc. But we didn’t even need all of those options. Color was just perfect, because we can see what all of our guests were wearing. And with no double prints, guests just kept coming back for more! Once the pictures were printed, guests clipped out one square and left it and a note into our guestbook/scrapbook. It was a hit! Dana, our attendant was also very helpful and patient. She arrived on time, and the booth was set up before guests arrived. She also guided the guests and even provided props later on during the reception. Overall, the photo booth was a hit!
My one and only complaint was that they didn’t use the logo pdf file that I had sent them. Instead, they just had our name and wedding date, which was fine. Not a major blip at all as long as our names were there. I would HIGHLY recommend Party Booths again to any bride.

I will admit I was completely against having a limo on my wedding but upon my parent’s insistence, we booked a limo at the very last minute. Since we didn’t have much time to shop around, I simply looked up reviews on PW and decided on Santos immediately and with absolutely no regrets. I echo the sentiments on the stellar service provided by Santos. Al, our driver, arrived on time. He was extremely patient and courteous, friendly and sociable without being too chatty and intrusive. He was also very smart to keep us in the limo until our photographer and videographer was ready to record our exit and as soon as we left the Church, he was already standing tall ready to let us back in. He drove us to the reception safely and timely and offered refreshments to our parents. The limo itself was very clean and shiny, in excellent condition for pictures, inside and out. We chose the Chrysler which was big enough for eight, maybe ten and the look was stylish and classy. I couldn’t have been more happier with our decision. Should you need a limo I HIGHLY recommend Santos, and ask Al to be your driver.

I actually dealt with Phil directly for our wedding floral arrangements and was extremely happy with the service provided. They not only offered the best prices but also the best styles, very modern and elegant. When we met with Phil he was very attentive, reviewing the inspirational pictures I provided and offering his own style to create arrangements I had envisioned. We went through a trial of our centerpieces so I knew exactly how they would look the day of. I wanted short centerpieces with ivory vendella roses and hydrangeas but he added his style with some green berries and gerber daisies and they looked fantastic! He also added hydrangeas and calla lilies to my bouquet which I would never have thought of and I loved it! The bouquets were perfectly sized for me and my bridesmaids and we all received many compliments. The pomanders too were perfectly sized for my 3-year-old flower girls. Everything was delivered on time and the delivery guys were quick and efficient in setting up the altar pieces. I’m sorry other brides didn’t have as good of experience with Pedestals as I did but I will HIGHLY recommend them in a heartbeat.

The tailors at Silhouettes and Profiles are extremely wonderful and sweet. I had worked with Anna and Irina, both who had assisted in altering my wedding gown to fit me perfectly. They changed my neckline to a more flattering sweetheart, seamlessly shortened the length of the dress and even customized my sash with a perfect bow. They also assisted my mother with two dresses that needed to be hemmed and the results were incredible, as if the dress were never altered and were made for her. They are perfectionist and I truly believe them when they say they can tailor anything! They are super skilled and highly professional and would HIGHLY recommend them in a heartbeat!

I knew I had a tight budget on my dress so I didn’t’ even bother going to Kleinfelds, lest I fall in love with something beyond my financial capabilities. So a friend recommended the infamous “No Frills” bridal salon, RK Bridal. And indeed, it was no frills. The store looks like one big warehouse with racks and racks of white gowns in plastic bags. It was a eerie sight and not at all elegant, feminine or romantic. Nevertheless, I did find my dress with the help of Sherri. I told her exactly what I wanted and what my budget was and she didn’t strayed too far from my wants. And she never never pushy. My dress came in about a month before expected delivery which was a plus. Since I’m not so much of a girly girl, I would recommend this bridal salon for the no frills experience. But I would NOT go to them for alterations after reading so many horror stories.

By a friend’s recommendation, I shopped at this store on 18th Street for all my DIY paper needs. While it is certainly not the cheapest place around, they did have the perfect shade of green that I was looking for and in all sort of cuts. I used the tropical green for the invitation pocketfolds, program covers, cardstock for table numbers and other signs, and slitted place card covers. The color coordination was easily recognized by my guests! On top of that, I had issues printing my ceremony programs. So I took it to the printers at Paper Presentation and dealt with Marisol, who was extremely helpful and attentive. Again, not the cheapest place but the quality and customer service was very impressive and will highly recommend them for all paper DIY needs.
