Ruthie and her husband Phares are AMAZING. They are kind, caring wonderful people who truly listened to all of my ideas. They really want me to have the cake I dreamed of for my wedding day.
The cake tasting session was a blast. Coffee and other drinks at the ready to wash down flavor after flavor. She was more than willing to let us try every flavor of cake, filling and icing she offered. We spent almost 4 hours just tasting cake, talking designs and working up the perfect cake for my day.
The cake is moist and tastes heavenly. Ruthie's famous butter cream icing is the best I have ever tried. I am a whipped cream icing lover but she won me over. We actually decided on different flavors and fillings for each layer of our cake and the groom's cake is different still. Ruthie was perfectly OK with all of it.
Not only was she amazing to work with regarding the cake, she had a lot of helpful hints regarding the other aspects of the wedding too. She has been in the wedding cake business for a long time so she knows quite a few vendors for other things too and let me tell you, she led us in the right direction for flowers, centerpieces, and other decoration ideas.

The staff are friendly as they can be and more than willing to help, unless you have an appointment and they are busy. I have been in a certain store at least 15 times since I got engaged last May. When I was there during the week in the middle of the day or in the evening about an hour before closing all of the staff were friendly and eager to help. On the 4 weekend days that I had a SCHEDULED appointment, not only did I have to wait in line to check in, then I had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes before my ASSIGNED staff member could help me because she was so busy helping others, many of which DID NOT have a SCHEDULED appointment.
Not only that, when I inquired about ordering items and time lines for ordering I was given conflicting information by EVERY person that I poke with. Because of this, 2 of my bridesmaids are wearing my accent color instead of the main color of the wedding. This happened because we were told we could order the dresses in April for the August event and all colors and styles would be available. WRONG. The styles we wanted were available but not the terracotta color I dreamed of. My junior bridesmaid is stuck in the second accent color because the dress she chose was only available in 2 colors and were were told any color we wanted they could get. The semi good news.......the flower girls will get a great dress with the main color sash and they will match, the bad news they will be here 1 week before the wedding WE HOPE because we were given incorrect information about the order dates by David's staff. My maid of honor is completely and blissfully happy today as she got the dream dress in the right color and some great shoes that she will be able to wear for her wedding in October. On top of ALL that every purchase is non-refundable.
The one positive thing is that since I bought my dress there, everyone in the bridal party gets some sort of discount for getting their dress their too but the 20 dollars off in no way makes up for the hassle after hassle I have had. Needless to say, I have found someone NOT associated with David's to do all the alterations needed. I would think for the amount of time and money I have spent in that store I would be treated like a queen from the moment I walk in the door until I leave. Every girl in that shop knows me by name, since I have been in and out of there so many times. The good news is the wedding is about 100 days away and I only have to go back there one more time to pick up the flower girl dresses when they come in. If I had known all this BEFORE I would have avoided David's like the swine flu.
