We used Red Oak to get the bridal party & all their gear in vans to the venue so everyone could get ready. They were great in working with us (and not up-charging us just because it was, technically, a wedding - in stark contrast to everyone else with whom I spoke). They were also really responsive as I needed to change things around at the last minute and let me communicate with them via e-mail. We had an easy ride across town to the venue and the driver was great - very helpful in loading & unloading all of our gear.

Carol was a dream come true. I so did not want a guy with bad highlights & a shiny vest behind some obnoxious sign screaming at our guests and playing songs that make my head hurt. A Starry Night is the antithesis of that AND, even better, you don't lose the banging party. Carol DJed our wedding and people have not stopped commenting on how great the music was and how she did not waste any time in getting the party started. Carol knew instinctively the exact vibe I wanted and made it come true. As a former DJ and a (recovering) control freak, it felt so good to just not worry about the music piece, knowing it was safe in Carol's capable hands. Beledo played beautiful piano for our ceremony music and guitar during the cocktail hour, then Carol took over for the reception and it was all just perfect (even with a rocky transition or two that snuck in). I worked exclusively with Carol in planning the music piece of our event and it could not have gone more smoothly. She was so responsive, calming and caring. She was the vendor I really looked forward to calling or e-mailing. It was also great just having their positive, calming spirits involved for the planning and execution of the wedding.

Glen Island Harbour Club is a class act. The grounds are stunning, the food delicious and plentiful and the staff - wow. Only at Glen Island have I encountered a group of people so intent on doing a flawless job. George was our Maitre d' for the evening. He's a master: he listens, he guides, he introduces, he adapts, he makes sure there are no surprises for you. He was a complete dream. I just felt bad that he had to wrangle us through a crowd of 170 of our nearest & dearest. That couldn't have been an easy job AT ALL.
Calista, the bridal attendant, was similarly fabulous. She had this bizarre ability to respond to my needs or wishes before I could even articulate them. I'd think it, she'd appear out of no where and it would be done. Amazing! Even when presented with an unusual challenge or two, she triumphed quickly and elegantly. She was patient, but firm when she needed to be (our bridal party was particularly chatty & boisterous, but she got us through a rehearsal in record time and the actual ceremony went off without a hitch).
Martin was our initial event planner and we loved working with him. We were quite upset when he went out on medical leave about 8 months into planning and no one told us (an interesting trend with a few of our vendors). Jack stepped in and, after a brief period learning and adapting to each other's styles, helped us pull off a fantastic party. People will talk about the Venetian hour alone for years to come.
We had a perfect wedding and it was, no doubt, due to the hard work, professionalism and care of the staff at Glen Island. What a terrific group of people to work with in pulling off an elegant, formal affair. I could not recommend them more highly.

Sharan is a gem. She put together an incredibly personalized ceremony. Working with her was amazing. She is so attentive, caring and reassuring. She is supportive without being stifling - her mere presence is calming and is a blessing to have around at such an emotional time. She did a phenomenal job. Even during the reception, people were stopping me to tell me how much they loved listening to her (her voice is pretty fantastic) and how impressed they were with the ceremony. The positive comments have continued to pour in since. I could not recommend someone more highly.

Working with Arcadia in the year leading up to our wedding was generally a hassle and I tried three different people there. They were pleasant enough (mostly - a passive-aggressive rudeness would present itself here and there), but the contract always came back wrong and they obviously had an issue with my less-than-conventional approach to decor (no cut flowers). That is, until Erica swooped in the week before our wedding. I don't know where she was hiding for the year, but she started working with us the weekend before our wedding and was AMAZING! She was so encouraging, fun and supportive and everything turned out perfectly - much better than I could imagine. I was really nervous working with Arcadia during our engagement, but everything turned out so beautifully. I also like the fact that they were extremely upfront about cost, generous about the extras and allowed us to supply some elements (like peacock feathers) at a lower cost. Overall, it's hard to not recommend them - though they were my least-favourite vendor to work with through our engagement, Erica gave us a photo finish and they did an amazing job in the end. Nicely done!
A quote of over $10,000 for minimal set up for 20 tables and the ceremony space. Nothing crazy requested (no cut flowers, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, draping, lounge-space set up) but a steely resolve to not work with my budget. Needless to say, I went elsewhere and have been very happy. Beautiful work but not for the faint of heart or budget.
