So my ring is absolutely gorgeous. It is just what I wanted. My fiance did an excellent job! And Robbins Bros offers a lot of incentives to buy from them - a free wedding-planning website, a $200 gift card (with the purchase of ring insurance,) and a courtesy phone number for information on anything from tow-trucks for a flat tire to good restaurants while you're on vacation. They also know how to make the customer comfortable.
All that being said, I do have one complaint about Robbins Bros. Not all of the staff was fully informed on their jewelry. I had to go up to the store 3 separate times AFTER I'd gotten my ring to get it resized. There were two separate people who were unclear on how the rings are sized to begin with, and on how to do a proper sizing of the finger. I started out thinking I needed a size 8, when really I needed a size 6! And the ring had never been resized when my fiance bought the ring, it was only after 2 trips up there that I was able to get the ring resized. And even worse, they didn't offer me anything for all the trouble it was just to get my ring the right size!
If you do decide to use Robbins Bros, which I do recommend doing (as they make it simple for you to buy the ring,) just be sure that you get a salesperson who actually KNOWS about the product, and KNOWS how to measure for ring size PROPERLY.
the BEST free wedding website out there. They provide tons of information, but in a way that's fairly easy to navigate. And they have an online planner for everything, including guest lists (which you can export to MS Office for easy printing for invitations,) a budget calculator, a to-do list (with a timeline!) and a lot features that you can personalize to your needs and wants for your wedding.
And talk about a great central location for ideas! See what colors look good together, what cakes are popular, the right dress for your body type, where to buy favors, invitation ideas and suggestions, and even a list of vendors specifically for your area with price ranges, websites, email addresses, and phone numbers.
They also have some nice sweepstakes on occasion, so keep an eye out.
Overall, theknot.com is a fantastic site to plan your wedding from!

I actually went to David's Bridal BEFORE I got engaged, but I've been a hard-core enthusiast ever since.
That's because when I went in there, I told them I was just looking for an A-line slip to go under a ball gown, and the jumped right in to help. I found the perfect one in under 10 minutes.
What made my experience even better was when I saw a wedding dress that I just adored. Like I said before, I wasn't even engaged yet, and I told the saleswoman that, but she still helped me out, and offered her card for a future date. She even offered to let me try on the dress! (I couldn't because I was in a hurry, but it was still such a nice gesture to someone who had no intention or reason to buy a wedding dress!)
And then I discovered Davidsbridal.com. My favorite part of the website is the "Dress Your Wedding" feature. You can plan out your whole wedding party - it's pretty amazing! And there are so many other neat things on the website, all to help with my planning. It's pretty amazing.
Maybe you don't want to buy a generic dress, like some of the ones at David's Bridal. But some of the other features of shopping there (or on their website,) make it seem pretty worthwhile.

The Plano Bridal Show was useful in that I found my wedding dress there. Other than that, it was just a fun afternoon spent looking at wedding-related booths. There was a really nice massage place there, though, which was pretty nice.
The reception locations were few, and most of them were in the Plano/Allen/McKinney area. Since I was looking at going a little closer towards the city of Dallas, the Plano Bridal Show didn't provide me with a lot of reception sites that would fit. Also, most of the reception locations that were present were hotels, so if you're looking for a more unique location (which I am,) then the Plano Bridal Show doesn't offer much else.
There were a few tasty bakeries there, but again, not very many. It was more like the downsized Dallas Bridal Show.
A good thing about the Plano Bridal Show was the presence of lesser known (and therefore less expensive,)vendors, such as the Diamond Petal, a silk florist shop. I was really impressed with the silk flower arrangements on display at the booth. I may even consider using them because the centerpieces looked so lovely!
There were many, MANY photographers at the bridal show. And a lot of them were very high-dollar, but the samples all looked nice.
The fashion show was a sampling of Just for You Creations, a dress-making company. None of the models were professionals, which was a bit refreshing, albeit a little disorganized, in part because of that.
The show doesn't really have a space to try on sample dresses, if you find one you like, so I was forced to dress backstage (after the fashion show was over.) I'm not sure if other bridal shows have fitting rooms, but if you find a dress at the Plano Bridal Show, you'll be in an awkward position to try it on. (As a side-note, I still bought the dress because it was perfect, even though it was an adventure trying it on.)
Also, there were only 2 bridal shops present at the show - one was Just for You, which had several dresses on sale, and also veils, headpieces, and jewelry. The other was a bridal shop in Addison Circle, and they had nothing on display. They were just handing out cards.
Overall, the Plano Bridal Show was a bit small town, but had some pretty nice deals. If you're looking for a bridal show that's a little smaller-scale, then the Plano Bridal Show is perfect for you.
Oh! And one thing to keep in mind when you go: don't go hungry (except for cake,) because the food for sale there was pretty terrible - overly-salty nacho cheese on bland nachos. And over-priced soda. Or a dull hot dog. Of course, you could make a meal out of tasting samples of cakes!

Just for You was a great place to get my wedding dress from. I could have gotten it custom made there, but I found one they already had that was my dream dress. Not only was it perfect, it was also ridiculously inexpensive! I got the veil and the dress for less than $350!
What makes the dress so perfect is not just the price, though. Unlike many custom dresses, the sewing is impeccable, and the beading on the bodice is extremely detailed. It looks like a designer dress - for a fourth of the price.
It's also great because I now have a one-of-a-kind dress, and I have an idea of where I may go to have my bridesmaids' dresses made. She uses high quality fabrics, but doesn't charge an arm and a leg. And like I said, the quality of the work is just phenomenal. I highly recommend getting your dress custom-made at Just for You.
And no, I don't work for them. I am just that pleased with my dress!
