The Hyatt itself was wonderful. We had our reception in the Crystal Ballroom - the west tower and it was great! The cocktail hour is in the lobby (up a few stairs so it is kindof separate) and then they open the huge doors into the reception hall. They just got new carpet and chairs in both the lobby and ballroom, which updated it a ton. The view in the ballroom is of the wrigley bldg and tribune tower - the main reason we chose the Hyatt. We thought that if we were going to get married in the city, we better have an amazing view and let our guests really feel like they were in the middle of the city - not just a ballroom with no windows. I have nothing but wonderful things to say. Highly reccommended.
I went to White Chicago, hoping to find a few dresses that I liked, and hopefully under budget! They led me to the room of dresses (that changes all the time) after I had washed my hands and taken off my shoes. They are really good about keeping things clean and take excellent care of the dresses.
After trying on 6 or so gowns that were very pretty, but not really my style, I decided to try on a dress that was hanging in the window. I fell in love. It was a Vera Wang, from her luxe line, 70% off the original price. It was a sample gown - meaning it had been in a bridal store and tried on, but never worn down the aisle. The bottom was a bit dirty, and the dress was a couple sizes too big, but I had never seen a dress like this one, and it took my breath away. (The bottom will be cut off anyway b/c it is too long)
Due to the consignment nature of the store- inventory is constantly changing, but I was thrilled with my luck of finding THE dress, and really pleased with how relaxed and wonderful the entire appointment was. I brought back my family the next week and purchased on the spot. I am also using their seamstress for alterations and will write a review once I have my next fitting! I love White Chicago!
I had a wonderful experience with the shop. I had a huge wedding party...they helped everyone find a dress they liked (we did different styles of the same line) and they came in on time (if not early!!). Also, they are downtown Chicago, close to the L, and easier for my bridesmaids to get to (instead of driving to the suburbs)!!
The owners are super sweet and adorable and really do their best to make sure everyone finds a dress!
