We blocked out rooms here for ourselves and our guests. The hotel is beautiful. We chose it due to the 'social' aspect of it- lots of public gathering areas, fantastic breakfast included, happy hour, and the pool for the kids. It lived up to everything we hoped, except for the fact that a kids soccer convention was staying there and the kids constantly played in the elevator and ran the hallways yelling. I think the hotel security should have monitored this a bit better. When we arrived back from the rehearsal with bottles of wine, they were very nice about letting us hang out outside and socialize late. The rooms are large (living room and bedroom) and a nice bathroom. I think that the social aspect of the hotel added to the wedding atmosphere, as people from both sides were able to meet and talk over breakfast. I would recommend getting rooms on the same floor if possible, it was tough to keep track of everyone!
We decided to use State Shuttle to get our guests from the hotel to the reception safely. The shuttles were large and clean, however the second shuttle was a bit delayed due to the shuttle hitting a flagpole and breaking a window! Luckily, no one was hurt and everyone was transported without incident. The rates were very good for the service.

I went back and forth about how to spend my wedding budget, and I kept going back and forth about the video. I found a package from Halo Video that seemed reasonable, and the samples didn't seem too cheesy, so I booked. This turned out to be the best spent money in my wedding. The videographer was unobtrusive and caught so much. I barely remember seeing him at all! He got some adorable footage of my niece toasting us on camera, as well as the cocktail hour (we didn't go because of pictures). He also captured all of the people arriving and our ceremony which seemed to go by in a flash! The video is especially poignant because my grandmother passed one year later and we have the video of her having a great time and dancing. I watch the video once or twice a month at least, and can't imagine not having it. Halo did a great job editing the video but capturing everything as well. They did a mini "music video" of the highlights that is great to show a quick overview.
We chose the Cannon Gate for several reasons- 1) my deceased grandfather had served on the base, and my dad/grandmother also lived there, 2) It was very affordable. I chose this place without any reviews or opinions of it- I was a little scared! Our package included a choice of 3 entrees (Prime rib, chicken marsala, stuffed fish) as well as a cocktail hour, 5 hr. open bar, wedding cake and the location. We had our ceremony on the patio overlooking the golf course and at our request they set out alcoholic and non-alc. beverages for the guests since it was so hot. The cocktail hour appetizers were homemade and fantastic. We took our pictures on the golf course and they turned out beautifully. The dance floor is large and in a great location, and there is a large bar in the room. There is a separate bridal room off of the dance floor. The food was fairly good, nothing spectacular, but no one complained! The fruit plate was excellent, as was the service. The cake was from Bakers Perfection and was excellent ( you have your choice of fillings, styles, icings). I loved that I had the choice of when to start the reception/ceremony, and that my party was the only one. It isn't the most glamorous place, but it was beautiful and perfect for a bride who doesn't want to spend a fortune.
I was planning a long distance wedding, and met with several very expensive florists while in town. I wasn't impressed, and decided to speak with Stargazers. I had very specific ideas on what I wanted, and emailed them to Stargazers and got a very reasonable quote in return. In a leap of faith, I decided to book them and I was very happy with my decision. For never having met the florist, they got my arrangements/bouquets/etc perfectly. She even had some suggestions on ribbon color that I wouldn't have thought of. The flowers were delivered to the hotel and reception hall in perfect and timely condition, and everyone raved over the centerpieces. They even arranged some lilies in a heart shape around the cake and guestbook tables which looked fantastic and wasn't asked for. They were extremely reasonable and the service was excellent.
I was very impressed with David Lau and his fiancee Amy. David was just beginning his wedding photography business, so his rate was very affordable for what we received in return. David and Amy showed up to the hotel early and was in the right places at the right times. I gave them creative freedom and I'm glad I did. They were unobtrusive- I hardly noticed them. They also captured all of the moments that were important. I was impressed at the details that they captured that are easily forgotten- the kids table decorations, placecards, etc. They had very inventive ideas about where to shoot and in what groups/combinations of people that I wouldn't have thought of. The background and lighting was beautiful. One of the best features was the fact that we were able to get a CD with the photos and the rights to reproduce the pictures. I would recommend this, because we were able to take all of our photos and email or make gifts/prints for our family and friends.
