This store was my first experience trying on wedding dresses, and it was amazing! The girls listened to what I said, they pulled gowns for me to try on, and I was shocked, they had LOTS to fit my plus size frame. They were so knowledgeable about the dresses and friendly and kind that it was a wonderful experience. Although I didn't end up buying my dress there, my mother will be heading back to find a mother of the bride pants suit.
My mom and I went to this store to find the perfect dress. I was told by quite a few people that this was the store to buy a plus size gown at. Unfortunately (for them) I didn't feel the same way. Although they carry a great variety of dresses for regular sized women, the dresses they carried for plus size women were all the same shillouett - A - Line, princess dresses with (mostly) no straps. I found their staff to be very helpful, but not very knowledgeable about the dresses that I was trying on. Not to mention they gave me clips to run around the store with, to go through their MONSTEROUS collection of dresses - it was not a great experience. To be honest, I don't suggest that you start there - go to more of a boutique where they will take care of you, find the sillouette you like then hit up Val's as a comparitive tool.

This store is located in Port Perry - my home town, I'm sad to say - when my moom and I went into this store looking for wedding gowns, we were greeted by a young lady, who, like everyother store, I told about when and where my wedding was. She then walked me to the "informal wedding" dress rack, and said "good luck finding something in there" - I'm a smaller plus size girl, and they only had a hand full of very traditional, formal, and not very attractive dresses that I could get on - they didn't even fit. Not to mention the fact that they looked like all the rejects from four seasons ago. The staff were not helpful at all, the girl I had didn't seem to listen to anything I said, or know much about the dresses themselves (she called a taffeta dress chiffon). The prices were almost as bad as down town Toronto to boot. Over all, I was very umimpressed.

Suit Yourself Menswear is attached to Bliss Bridal Boutique, and was a great place to kill time before my dress appointment. They have a wide selection of suits to buy and tuxes to rent. Ours is a beach wedding, and we found the perfect suit for my fiance here. They also carry a huge assortment of really great ties! Their prices were quite good, and they carried a range of sizes too. All in all, a great place to shop!
I couldn't have asked for a better experience buying a dress. As a plus size girl, I had a lot of difficulty finding dresses that I could even get on, let alone look at on to get an idea of what a real, well fitted dress would look like. But not here, they had such a variety of styles it was amazing, and the staff (Sally & her girls!) were amazing at letting me take my time, try things on, and really decide what I wanted. They even pulled a few gowns that I would NEVER have thought to try on, and I actually ended up buying one! Their prices were quite comperable to other stores in the area - it was an amazing experience. We're heading back to check out bridesmaid dresses too! If you want an amazing experience, make an appointment and check these ladies out! (also, they have an awesome mens store attached - and owned by Sally's husband Steve - where we are getting our suits for our groom & groomsmen.)
