I was a BM in an Oct '05 wedding and she had Lucy make our dresses, her wedding gown and her evening dress. She also had Lucy alter her red Chinese dress (cheongsam). The quality of the dresses were good and Lucy was able to duplicate designer dresses to fit our bodies at a reasonable price that included alterations. The evening dress wasn't really what the bride had pictured.

Now the downside. . . The bride picked up the dresses the day before her wedding and didn't check them before she left the store. When she got home and took her dresses out of the garment bag, she was horrified when she saw that all these black marks on her red Chinese dress (this was the dress that Lucy didn't make but she did alterations and pressing). The MOH checked her pink dress and saw that there were the same black marks all along the front center of the dress. (We think it was from the pressing machine). My dress had a couple pen marks but it was minor to the other 2 dresses. The bride tried calling Lucy all afternoon but Lucy was out buying fabrics. The MOB ended up spot cleaning the dresses, taking the chance that they might have water stains.

Maybe had she picked the dresses up earlier and saw what had happened, there might have been more time to fix it.

I sampled A Piece of Cake and thought they tasted good and had great prices. The only reason I didn't go with them in the end was because my wedding wasn't in the south bay.

I felt the store was very cramped. I couldn't really even look through the dresses because they were so many on the racks that I couldn't even pull it out.

DJ King Raffi (formerly from Mix 106.5) was great. He emceed as well as dee-jayed and also bought an assistant. After we made our grand entrance, we were having a couple family members make announcments but they were MIA. DJ King Raffi filled the awkward silence to help the situation while we located our missing announcers.

He didn't charge us for set-up, take-down, travel or the assistant. The only downside was that he cost a lot more than we budgeted but he was worth it.

The store was very busy when we went to pick up our tuxedos. It didn't help that it was also prom season. The biggest downside is that they don't allow people to pick up their tuxedos until late afternoon so everyone is there at once.

The good thing was that nothing was wrong with our tuxedos. The tuxedo manager had a good sense of humor.

We were able to get the groom's tuxedo free too with 4 tuxedo rentals so that's another plus.

I had the best experience at Elegant Lace Bridal. Leila was great, as well as others, who would assist me on the phone if she wasn't in. My Bridesmaids knew exactly what I was looking for so we went through the dresses and picked some the rack for me to try on. As I tried each dress on, Leila listened to my bridesmaids and I about the details we liked and wouldn't lie (like typical salespeople) and tell me everything looked good when we all clearly knew it didn't. My wedding gown came in months earlier than they had told me so that was good too.

Unfortunately, they didn't carry the brand of bridemaids dresses that my bridemaids wanted so we couldn't order them from Elegant Lace. I was, though, able to order my evening dress (Watters Wtoo Bridesmaid's Dress) from them at a discounted price since I ordered my wedding gown from them.

I, too, have mixed reviews about Trudy's Brides. Before I went there, I had heard great reviews about them. I didn't have a good experience in the brides section. It was very crowded and even with my appt, I still had to wait. I did have a private area in the back, whereas some other brides were in front of everyone, so that was nice. I don't think I was able to choose what dresses I wanted. I had to tell the salesperson what styles I liked and what my budget was and she went and picked dresses for me. Eventually, it seemed as though she wasn't able to find me anything I liked so my bridesmaids and I left disappointed.

We went to their Special Occasions shop next door and had a great experience there. My BMs and I were able to look at many styles, try them on and pick out color swatches with the assistance of Jessica. I made sure I saw her every time we went back for the bridesmaids. She helped me order color swatches so I would have something to show my florist. She also sent me a thank you card.

We looked at Europe packages for Rome, Venice & Paris. We had narrowed it down to 2 packages that we liked and one went to Nice, France & one went to Switzerland. My husband wanted to go to Nice so we did and it was great. We loved it. He was his favorite part of Europe.

Kara's Cupcakes are so cute! They are delicious too.

My husband had his bachelor party here. He had a full day of events and this was one of them. The guys had a great time. The only downside is that they need people to be on time and you have to pay a deposit. There were a couple guys who were a little late so they couldn't race and our Best Man wasn't able to get a refund. The good thing though is that he got a credit so he could use it at a later time.
