When I was looking around at photographers, I felt like no one’s work pictures compared to Jeff’s. I wanted a photojournalistic style – people doing things and looking like themselves, not posing for pictures. For me, pictures were the most important part of the wedding. I didn’t care what we ate, I just wanted to make sure there were great pictures of the day to look at later! Jeff’s website shows his beautiful slide shows set to music that he makes for everyone he works with, and seeing those on his website made me realize that this was the photographer we wanted to use. I still go back and look at our engagement and wedding slideshows more often than our album, although the album is just as beautiful. Jeff was a pleasure to work with – taking tons of time with us for all of our shoots as well as choosing our pictures.

Cali is an amazing makeup artist. I’m not big on makeup, so she worked hard on creating a look that would work well for photos but not make me feel too made-up. I was really upfront with her that I was doing a trial run of makeup because I would do my own on the big day if I felt like I was too made up. She wasn’t offended, but used that to start the conversation on what I wanted it to look like. She redid my eye shadow several times at my request until I was comfortable with the final look. When I look back at the wedding pictures, I’m so glad I went with her.

Monique Peterson was great. I hadn’t been to her before my trial run, so I was a little nervous, but she took the time to really listen to what I wanted. She tried my hair a bunch of ways and gave honest feedback about how she thought it looked in different styles until I was really happy with the final product. When I gave her feedback on the big day about it being too tight on the trial run, she was really careful with each and every pin she put in. Since then, I recommended her to a coworker with totally different hair who was just as happy with the results.
