We were actually very lucky to find Della. We tried to use another referral, but she was unavailable on our date. On her website, however, were other photographers apart of this same group. My wife and I shopped through each photographer’s linked websites, and simply liked Della’s artistic style the best.
Della is organized, creative, has a great eye for using scenery, and is fun to work with. Della offers coffee table books of your pictures versus regular photo albums which we really liked after seeing a sample.
We decided that we wanted to shoot our couple and wedding party pictures around the city, and not just in one place. This is Della’s specialty, and she had many great ideas.
Della met us at our hotel, where both wedding parties were getting ready. Della hung out with the girls and her assistant was with the boys. We then all jumped into a huge stretch Escalade and drove off. We enjoyed ourselves, while Della directed the driver to the spots she had in mind. We started at the Federal Building, went to Pike Place Market, Post Alley, Lower Queen Anne, and ended at Kerry Park where both of our families were waiting to take family pictures. We had so much fun when myself, my wife and Della, jumped out of the limo at the Market, and were the center of attention taking pictures on a busy Saturday afternoon. We did not know it at the time, but seeing samples of our pictures, Della had incorporated the surroundings, whether a street sign, writing on the wall, etc., into the pictures to tell a story. At the wedding, she balanced perfectly between being there and not being obtrusive.
If you are looking for someone fun, energetic, easy to work with, creative, and that takes incredible photos, then we highly recommend Della. I am sure she is great at taking the normal, classic wedding pictures. However, she exceeded our expectations by using her artistic and creative skill to capture our special memories.

We chose The Canal for the beautiful setting, intimate ambiance, and because Jewel Catering was another referral. Michelle was our sales contact and was great to work with from the day we booked the venue, to the day of our event.
Michelle was very friendly, organized, knowledgeable, and gave us a sense of ease when working with her. She walked us through the process in detail, assisted us in making menu, linen, etc. choices, but never made us feel like we were being sold to. That was very important to us, and it made the process more fun and enjoyable.
Michelle and Jewel Catering were extremely accommodating. We made tons of changes to our contract throughout the process, as I am sure most do, and not once did Michelle say “no” or “we won’t do that”. There were some minor things they could not do, but Michelle went out of her way to help us find alternatives that would work.
Another huge reason why I recommend Jewel is for the way they bill for alcohol consumption. Most places will bill you based on guest consumption and bottles opened. This concerned us because you do not really know how many bottles are being opened, or if it is really necessary to open a bottle. Jewel simply charges 1 flat rate for 4.5 hours of continuous bar service, regardless of consumption. This put are minds at ease to not have to worry about our bar tab, especially the way our friends and families drink. : )
The food and presentation were excellent! There were a ton of options, and we were allowed to mix and match to our liking for our buffet. The service was great, the place looked amazing, and all of our guests were well fed very complimentary.
We were referred to Mona Lisa Events by my sister. Heather Hall was the new owner and remembered us from assisting at my sister’s wedding a year earlier. Heather was excellent! From the initial contact meeting until the day after our wedding, Heather took care of everything. She was friendly, well-organized, detailed-oriented, easy to work with, and very attentive to our needs.
In the time between our initial meeting and the 1-month prior meeting, Heather would check in with us often. She provided a helpful timeline of approximately where we should be in our planning all the way up to our date. We mainly corresponded through email (although she was always available by phone), and it was reassuring to know she was there for us since we had no idea what we were doing. We had a million and one questions for her, and she answered them promptly every time. When I asked for referrals on vendors, she sent at least 3 or more options for us to look into. I am sure she was busy doing these things for other couples, but she always made us feel like we were her only clients. That is a true testament to the exceptional service she provided.
At our “1-month” meeting, Heather made sure we were still on track in our planning, and went over all the last minute details we had left.
Where Heather really earned her keep was the day of the wedding. An already hectic, emotional, overwhelming day, it was comforting to know that Heather had everything under control. My wife forgot her veil at the hotel after we had already left for pictures. We did not have time to go back to get it. I called Heather and she was on it. She drove to our downtown hotel, got access to the room, somehow, and retrieved the veil and a couple other forgotten items. She also sent me a text reassuring me she got the goods.
If Heather was ever stressed, she never showed it to us. She stayed calm throughout the entire event, which was very comforting to us. Heather was always close if we needed her, but far enough away that we never felt rushed or bothered. She kept the program moving along, and the timing could not have been better.
Heather made our special day a very memorable one. If you are on the fence about hiring or needing a coordinating, it is definitely worth every penny to not have to think about the little details the entire day. Hopefully I will never have to use Heather’s services again, but I will definitely refer all of my friends and family!
