My fiance and I are having our wedding reception at the American Legion in Mount Pleasant. He is an active duty Navy Nuke and the Legion is kind enough to let us use their facilities for our reception. It's fairly low key, and is just perfect for us. My wedding is simple, pretty and CHEAP. If you are planning a military wedding and money is a MAJOR issue, I would recommend researching your local American Legion, and joining. They may be able to help you in ways you might not expect.

The bridal show was interesting, and full of very nice vendors. I wish thought that there had been more vendors with less expensive wares. Most of the photographers were priced around the same, and there were only 2 food caterers. The DJs were also rather expensive, and I wish there had been cheaper options available. I will probably end up NOT booking anyone I spoke to at the show, though I am glad I went as a learning experience.

I bought my do-it-yourself invitations at Party City, and they were very pretty, and i used a friend's computer and printer to format my text and print them out (invitations, RSVP cards, envelopes and RSVP envelopes). It was kind of tricky, and we definitely wrecked a couple of envelopes before we got the hang of it, and entering all my addresses into mail-merge definitely took about an hour and a half. the whole process took about 7 hours from start to finish, though I spent some of that time fooling around on the internet and texting.
They came out well though. I would reccommend to someone with minimal knowledge of computers to have a professional print your invitations.
These were perfect for my low-budget, simple wedding. :)

I'm having my ceremony at the Tidewater Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. They gave me a GREAT deal (because I'm having my wedding in the off season, and I only need to rent the chapel dressing rooms and bathrooms and not their reception hall.)The chapel seats about 100 people, and they will provide me with an officiant if I choose not to find my own. I have scheduled access to the chapel from 10-5 on the day of the wedding. The lady who i did my paperwork and signed my contract with was very nice and understanding that i may have to cancel because my fiance is in the Navy and hasn't yet been officially granted leave for our wedding. I will definitely recommend looking at the Tidesater Chapel for others with upcoming weddings.

I went to David's Bridal and told them what i had in mind and I fell in love with the second dress I tried on! It was sooo pretty, but was more than I was planning to spend (I have a VERY STRICT budget) and I told them so. I said, "I love it, but wasn't planning to spend that much", and the saleslady checked the tag and asked me, "would help if the dress were $100 off?" And i put it on layaway that day! they were wonderful and very helpful. I will definitely suggest David's Bridal to friends in the future.
