Our cake was provided by the venue, so we didn't really have much of a choice--the Some Crust Bakery is what you get when you have your wedding at the Lindley-Scott House. We went for our tasting and were happy with the flavors; we chose black-and-white cake with chocolate ganache filling for the large bottom layer, white cake with strawberry buttercream for the next layer, and carrot cake with sweet cream cheese filling for the top two tiers. All of them were delicious at the tasting, and though I only got a couple bites of cake on the day, I thought it was yummy then as well.

More than anything, I was impressed with the artistry of our cake. It was BEAUTIFUL. We were worried we'd have a limited number of choices for the design, but they were very flexible and said they'd pretty much do whatever we wanted. I went through their previous designs and found one that I really liked, and we added a double ribbon of brown and pink at the bottom of each tier (that part cost extra, as it was made of fondant). I ended up photoshopping the picture they had of the original cake so it looked exactly the way I wanted it, and they replicated it perfectly. It seriously took my breath away when I saw it.

I'm surprised by the number of negative reviews for them, especially about their design work - maybe it's because I was so specific and provided a photo of exactly what I wanted, but I thought they did a particularly beautiful job with the design.

Tom, a Knottie favorite, was simply fantastic. I refused to hire a day-of coordinator because I didn't think it was worth the money after putting together so many of my details on my own, so my husband and I created our own detailed day-of timeline. Tom took that document and ran the entire reception right on schedule for us. He came up to us often to let us know that we should be moving on to the next item on the agenda, and he kept the dance floor hopping all night. He also could tell that the Greek dance music my mother and my aunt insisted on fell flat after the first song, and right as my husband said "We should tell him to cut that off..." he faded it out and played something fun to get everyone out on the floor. Tom organized our grand entrance, instructing everyone on the best pathway through the room, and he choreographed our cake cutting and locked-arm toast. He did a great job with all of it. I recommend him 100%.

Zenia is an incredibly talented photographer, and we are so lucky that we were able to book her when we did! She did an outstanding job with our engagement pictures, and her coverage of the wedding was spectacular as well. We were a little concerned about only having one photographer for our wedding, as her contract specified that we couldn't hire a second, but she assured us that she offers complete coverage, and she was right. She gave us a nice mix of candid, photo-journalistic shots and traditional posed family portraits (which we knew would be important to both of our parents), and we were very comfortable working with her. My husband has always hated getting his picture taken, so I was particularly impressed that Zenia was able to make him feel comfortable enough to look relaxed and smile the whole time. Shortly after we booked her, Zenia stopped accepting new clients for a while to prepare for her new baby, but I believe she is open for booking again with limited availability.

Overall, we are absolutely thrilled with Zenia's work and would highly recommend her to anyone. She captured the wedding beautifully and made us look fantastic, and we will treasure those pictures forever.

I booked Leah very late in the game on a recommendation from another knottie. Luckily, she was available on my date, so I scheduled a trial with her immediately. She did a beautiful job with the trial, and I booked her for my own hair and makeup as well as both mothers and all of my bridesmaids (hair only). We had a little bit of a hiccup with payment, but Leah was very accommodating about letting us pay her the day of and returning the check to us once it finally showed up in the mail (stupid USPS!).

Leah made me look flawless on the day of. My hair and makeup didn't budge all day, no matter how much crying I did (and boy, did I do a lot of it!). I was 100% pleased with the work she did and would highly, highly recommend her for bridal hair and makeup to anyone. The only minor issue we had is that a couple of my bridesmaids were a little unhappy with their hairdos (and everyone who had a complaint had theirs done by her assistant, not by Leah herself, which probably explains it). Had they said something at the time, I'm sure it would have been fixed right away, but no one mentioned it until after the fact. In the end, I still felt everyone looked wonderful, and I think she does excellent work at a reasonable price.

Eddie did an AMAZING job with my flowers. I went in knowing absolutely nothing about flowers and had no specific requests beyond the color scheme (that, and I knew I liked stephanotis). I think that helped me keep the prices low, because he didn't have to run around looking for expensive out-of-season blooms and pretty much had free reign to do anything that looked nice and was in the right color family. I gave him a budget of $2000 for everything, he wrote up a quote on the spot that came to around $1800, and in the end he came in well under budget at around $1600. Eddie also does a trial centerpiece before you book him, and when we went in to see it, it almost brought me to tears!

On the day of my wedding, all of the flowers were perfect. My bouquet was stunning, the bridesmaids' bouquets held up all night even with the hydrangea in them (a big concern of mine, but he assured me they would stay fresh and beautiful, and they did), the centerpieces were vibrant and full without any filler that I noticed, and the gazebo decor was absolutely gorgeous. His guys even set up my pomanders and taped/pinned the aisle runner in place for no extra charge, and I'm sure that was quite a task! I provided the urns for the centerpieces since I wanted people to be able to take them home after the wedding, and we didn't have a single one left behind (my grandmother even stuffed the two altar arrangements into her backseat and took those home!). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Eddie's work, and I would highly recommend him to anyone for their wedding.
