Stacy's prices are reasonable, and she does do good work. However, she insisted that I not have my make-up airbrushed, which all my BM's had done. My bangs were also all over the place on our wedding day! While I canât fault her for the fact that my bangs were a tad bit too short to be pulled back behind my ears, I do think she could have done a better job with it since it affected a lot of our pictures. To be fair, Stacy and her assistant did an overall great job on hair and make-up and I'd recommend them.

Malibou Lake was the perfect reception venue, given the look and feel that we wanted for our wedding. Itâs nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, so you have great views of the naturally beautiful landscape with an outdoor set-up. The clubhouse has a rustic feel to it, which lends itself to a very warm and relaxed atmosphere for receptions. While I highly recommend Malibou Lake as a venue, I have some reservations about its site coordinator, Roxy Adlesh, based on my experiences with her towards the latter part of the planning process (which is also the most crucial). She became rather difficult to get a hold of and was disorganized. It helped that I kept records of every conversation we had, because I found myself having to refresh her memory on things weâd agreed upon and even had to call her attention to some discrepancies on the final invoice (e.g., being charged twice for the bar set-up fee). On the day of the wedding, there were some set-up issues that my behind-the-scenes helpers had to work with because Roxy seemed to have forgotten what we discussed about the lay-out. To be fair, she was wonderful to work with in the beginningâ¦very pleasant and upbeat. It may be that she couldnât manage the workload on her own, as she seemed to be running things solo for Malibou Lake.
Truly Yours is the exclusive caterer of Malibou Lake. They were pretty easy to work with in the beginning; however, they went through some transition midway throughout our planning that created some confusion as far as pricing that we were initially quoted by the first catering director (who also doubled as the site coordinator for Malibou Lake). Overall, the quality of the food was good. We had to rely on the feedback we got from our family and friends since neither my husband and I ate much that day.
I purchased two veils (a cathedral length veil w/ blusher for the ceremony and a fingertip veil for the reception) for under $120 from this vendor. The veils came in within days of my ordering them online and in great condition! The veils are made of the soft, bridal illusion tulle. I highly recommend this vendor.
While we are still waiting for the final product to arrive, I have to say that Young has been wonderful to work with. My husbandâs 98-year-old great grandfather was not able to make it to our wedding because of his fragile health. I asked Young if it would be possible to have a highlights clip made soon after the wedding so we can at least share it with him and others who couldnât make it. Within a week after our wedding, Young e-mailed us a link to the 2-minute highlights clip. It was a beautiful piece of work. The editing and song selection was great! Young is quite shy about his broken English, but he's very responsive when it comes to e-mail correspondence. He is extremely professional; we hardly noticed him at all throughout the day.
Fiddle Stix came in highly recommended by several brides, and their prices are the best Iâve seen. Margaret is the contact person for the group. She made the planning of our ceremony and reception music selection so easy by simply getting a feel for the mood we wanted to set and just running with it by suggesting pieces she thought were appropriate. After we got back from our honeymoon, we were pleasantly surprised to see a thank you card from Margaret with a long note congratulating us for the wedding and how well she thought the musical selections came together. What a sweet and wonderful thing to do!

Eddie was, by far, one of our favorite vendors to work with! He even gave me a nice talk to help put our wedding day in perspective and calm my nerves days before the wedding. He is detail-oriented and knows what he's doing. City of Commerce did a mock-up of our BM bouquet and centerpiece even before taking our deposit. Eddie also did a mock-up of our church pew decoration after I expressed some concerns about the size of it. If you pay with cash, you can negotiate the price of your floral arrangements as we did.

My cousin and I both ended up buying Pronovias gowns at the Montclair Collection in Santa Monica. Because of this, I was able to negotiate the price of my gown. The service was great. They were not pushy at all, although Iâm not as enthusiastic about recommending them because I realize that they do mark up their prices. Do your research and comparison shop! My gown was definitely an impulse buy, but I have absolutely no regrets.
Our wedding cake was so tasty and looked beautiful! Portoâs is a family favorite, so we knew we wanted to have our wedding cake from them. The customer service was great from the time we walked in for the cake tasting âtil the end. We did our planning long-distance, so it was great that they were able to work through some last-minute design and flavor changes by phone.

I purchased paper from Kelly Paper in Pasadena in two colors: 80# classic linen Augusta Green and Classic Natural White. Ribbons were purchased at Michaels. I also purchased fabric cagome paper, which looks like woven bamboo, from Swains Art Supplies in Glendale to embellish the main invitation a little. The invitations were definitely a labor of love with all the time and energy we spent on assembling them, but well worth it for the compliments we received.
