And it was just perfect...
A few weeks ago we decided to bring our wedding forward. We had been planning for February 2011, a fairly big wedding for 100 people in the venue below, but then we discovered that my Step-Dad's cancer was terminal.
We talked a lot about the whole wedding malarkey and we decided that two things were important to us. Firstly, that we wanted to be married, to become husband and wife, to make vows to each other promising to be together forever. And secondly, that we wanted to make those vows in front of all the people, our families and our closest friends, who we love the most.
So we decided just to do it, there was no reason to wait and it just felt right.
In 20 days we cancelled all our plans and arranged a whole new wedding for 26 people. It was amazing, an absolutely fabulous day and we just loved every second of it.
I will post a proper re-cap soon but here are some snaps in the meantime....
OK, so as soon as we started planning the wedding we decided that J was in charge of all paper goods. He's so much more artistic than me and a total perfectionist so hopefully our DIY invites won't be squint, covered in glue or generally just a bit crap (which is exactly how they would turn out if I was doing them by myself....)
Some inspiration pics:
Ok so we don't have a date or a venue yet, let alone a dress, but one thing I know I definitely want is some form of short, probably birdcage, veil! I have always loved these, and I have super short, pixie style hair and I don't think a more 'traditional' veil would work with that.
A few that I like:
J had booked an appointment at the jewellers for our first morning in New York - one of many things he'd arranged without me having any idea what he was up to!
I always knew I wanted a simple solitaire - this was the first setting I tried on and I just fell in love with it!
The second pic is me just after we picked up the (re-sized) ring, I'm a little excited...!
We're thinking grey/silver/gunmetal with hints of pink to lift it. At the moment I'm drawn towards a very pale pink as opposed to fuschia as I think it will work better with our (dream) venue...
