I purchased my Maggie Sottero Jenna from Michelle's in December 2010. My consultant, Jenna, was phenomenal (she's no longer there as she moved to Denver). She helped my aunt and I pick out several different silhouettes and styles. The first dress I tried on was the Jenna, which ended up being the one, but also had me try on the rest to make sure. Once we decided on the Jenna, something was still missing. I really loved the enzoani Diana sash, but it didn't flatter the dress. She brought out an essence of Australia sash, but it wasn't quite right either. Together we figured out that the essence sash on a black belt was perfect. She finished off the look with a gorgeous cathedral length raw edge veil, and made me feel like a beautiful bride for the first time. Jenna made a bittersweet moment (both of my parents passed away) turn into a spectacular moment, and one of my favorites in all of my planning.

We spent the last two days of our honeymoon at the Ritz in San Juan. It was amazing. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms left much to be desired, but the staff was so accommodating that we looked past it. We had a wonderful time, and we'd love to go back!

We honeymooned on Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas from September 11-18, 2011. The ports of call were amazing (Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, and St. Croix). I didn't like that the last day of the cruise wasn't a day at sea, as we were exhausted when we got back to San Juan (but luckily we had a few extra days in PR). The customer service department was awful. They didn't seem like they wanted to help answer questions. Other than that department, everyone on the ship was fabulous. I wish we would have paid a little more and gone on Oasis or Allure, but it was nice for what we paid.

I fell in love with Sarah's cake truck when I worked downtown at the Metropolitan Building. I was determined to have those cupcakes at our wedding. We purchased approximately approximately 275 cupcakes (10 dozen, plus a few dozen child cupcakes) for our wedding. While it was kind of on the expensive side (almost 800 bucks including tax, delivery and setup), everyone raved about the cupcakes! We didn't need that many, though, but luckily I was able to donate the remainder of the cupcakes to an organization I volunteer with.

Overall, great experience!

We booked the Sheldon for our September 2011 wedding back in March 2010. Laurie, the coordinator, is a very difficult person to work with. Her communication was awful. She told me that she would get back to me in April 2010 on some questions I asked her, and I never heard from her again. Their contract is horrendous. It doesn't include the stipulations that they actually have for the venue, and Laurie didn't disclose those stipulations until after the contract was signed, despite multiple questions on the subject. They require union vendors, and the lighting vendor that they require was extremely rude to us. We cancelled the Sheldon as it caused far more headache than it was worth, and, of course, we were unable to recoup our 1200 deposit.

This review is for River City Catering (I believe that stumpy's falls under RCC).

We hired RCC after hearing rave reviews from several friends, family members, coworkers, and local wedding professionals. We were on a limited budget, but we wanted the best we could afford.

We met with George at his Cecil Whitaker's Pizzeria for our initial consultation. We tried almost everything on his catering menu. It was delicious, but not exactly what we were looking for as it was pretty heavy and we wanted to lighten up some of the dishes. But George was very accommodating, as his mantra is "George will work with you."

Over several weeks, we negotiated. I was assured he'd be able to make some changes to the menu that we really wanted for our wedding in our budget (eg a different salad). However, that didn't actually happen. He ultimately decided that he wanted to stick with what the menu was and not make changes. He did agree to change the green beans, mashed potatoes and kid's meals to make them lighter, but he didnt agree to change the salad. That may not seem like a big deal, but to us it was.

Over the course of the months leading up to the wedding, we were in contact with George almost weekly. We were also in contact with another employee, Brian. Brian came out to the site and spoke with us about rentals, as George was our contact with Crowne Rentals. Brian would tell us things, and then we'd talk to George, and George would get angry and say that "Brian shouldn't tell us things without checking with him." George also was adamant on doing everything according to his terms and timeline, and really said some unprofessional and downright rude things to us, about our event and other weddings he had catered.

Although George really rubbed me the wrong way during the planning, he was extremely professional during the event. My husband always would remind me that "george's job and only concern is the food." he was right. George wasn't concerned with anything about our wedding other than the food, and the rentals. When the rental company delved the wrong linens, George had it quickly corrected. When he sent me the bill, he covered things that he didn't realize we needed. He was supposed to cover the linens, but we thought that meant all linens, and he thought it only meant guest tables and his tables, but he covered them anyway.

At the reception, the staff was courteous, professional, and well dressed. The food was delicious (we are still getting rave reviews from our guests). They cut our cake and replenished the cupcakes, even though that wasn't expected of them. They used real china, and took care of setup and breakdown. The bar was well stocked, and the bartenders were knowledgeable and quick.

After all was said and done, I'd recommend River City Catering. I do want you to know that he isn't the easiest guy to get along with. I'd highly suggest making your hubby-to-be, parents, attendant, or coordinator the point of contact, so you can avoid some of the personality conflicts that may arise during the planning stage, as we all know our emotions are running high as brides.

Lisa Hessel is a creative genius. she's worth her weight (+ the weight of a herd of elephants since she's tiny) in gold. :) I never truly understood why photographers charged the rates they do, and I certainly never appreciated the amount of time and work that goes into creating beautiful images until I started getting into photography as a hobby and read several books. And I didn't understand the value of customer service that a true professional, such as Lisa, can provide. I just thought she took pretty pictures. I have a deep respect for Lisa. I admire her creativity. I adore her passion for what she does. I love that she can make anyone feel beautiful and comfortable in front of her lens. I appreciate the photos she's taken of my husband and I and our families, as they've captured memories we'll be able to cherish for a lifetime. But that's not all. I am eternally grateful for Lisa, her husband Jon, and her assistant Lindsay, as they went above and beyond for us on our wedding day, and I know full well that other vendors would have just shrugged and said "sorry, that's not my job." My coordinators didn't do what was expected of them, and they quit at the beginning of our reception. Lisa, Jon, and Lindsay, without hesitation, stepped into the coordinators' role, kept the reception flowing, and managed to still take gorgeous photos. They kept us calm, and helped us continue to enjoy the night when we could have let the coordinators' unprofessionalism ruin our wedding. Lisa Hessel is one vendor that I would ABSOLUTELY recommend to other brides. She is invaluable. Thanks, Lisa, Jon, and Lindsay. You were an integral part in making our wedding, despite the hurdles, our dream wedding. We love you!

Sarah...where do I begin? Her eye for style, her genius creativity, her passion, her love for her clients...just to name a few. I'm creative. And I'm usually not one to relinquish creative control, especially for my wedding. But Sarah just gets it. She's like a long lost sister I never had that can read my gibberish, know exactly what I'm looking for, even when I haven't realized it yet. I originally started working with Sarah on 10 monograms long ago...like early 2010. Then I found the perfect monogram that I wanted recreated for us in November 2010. I couldn't believe the results. It was perfect. My budget was slashed midway through planning, so I intended to do my save-the-dates, invitations, and sinage myself. I made this list...and realized quickly that it was going to take a looooong time and needed to enlist some help. I sent Sarah the list, knowing full well that (1) it was a LOT of work, and (2) it was going to be expensive. She responded quickly, with a price that was 150% worth it, and a sense of excitement to help make my dreams a reality. From January to September 2011, Sarah and I spent hours working together, gchatting about designs, and eventuall becoming friends. I watched her handle herself with grace and continue to work with her clients when her mom passed away, knowing full well that we would have understood if she needed time to completely shut down her business. But that's the thing about Sarah. She's professional, and she keeps her commitments and knows when she can't take on new jobs because she doesn't want to provide anything less than superior service to her clients. Not only does she create stunning designs, she provides the best of the best customer service. Hire Sarah. You won't regret it.
