On Saturday, June 26th PW's own Alliesauce, Dreaday & Claire27 took me out for a night on the town to make up for my first b-party that was a bust! We started out with a pole dancing class...damn that's a workout! I am still sore 2 days later!
Then we went to the Rio for dinner & margaritas...the limit is 3 because they have Everclear in them & Allie & I had our limit. Then it was time to hit the club! Let the drunken good times begin!!
Practicing our wall moves!
Using the tree as a pole! Strike a pose!
I can never thank you 3 enough...you are AMAZING & so much fun!!
Woo hoo...it's starting to feel real now :)
FI and I had to drive separately because we had to go to work after and when I got in the car after we got the license "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen was on the radio!! Then I texted FI to tell him & he said
"It's All Over" by 3 Days Grace came on his ipod LOL!! Excuse the goofy pic...we are not morning people : )
The Parent's Blessing:
To the parents of Melissa & Derek, although they have embarked on this marriage through personal choice, their marriage will be enriched by the families from which they come.
With this in mind I ask you, Melissa's parents, to take this man, Derek, into your hearts, that he may live from this day as your son, for he is dear & beloved to Phil & Karen and shall be so to you & your family. Do you?
(Melissa's parents)-We do
And of you, Derek's parents, I ask the same. I ask that you take this woman, Melissa, into your hearts,
that she might live from this day as your daughter, for she is dear & beloved to Lowell & Maxine, and shall be so to
you & your family. Do you?
(Derek's parents)-We do
To the families & friends of Melissa & Derek, we ask you to nurture this union with your love & understanding. Help them to keep their hearts open and ever tender, full of forgiveness & compassion, of happiness & light.
Help Melissa & Derek see that through the love they've discovered in one another, they will no doubt find their way in the world together.
The Art of Marriage
Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created. In the Art of Marriage:
The little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating
gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not expecting the husband to wear a halo or the wife to have wings of an angel.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding, and a sense of humor.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
Love is a temporary madness,
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two.
Derek, on this day our hearts & souls become one. Your dreams are now my dreams. Your hopes are now my hopes forevermore. I pledge to honor, encourage & support you through our walk together. When our way
becomes difficult, I promise to stand by you & uplift you, so that through our union we can accomplish more than we could alone. I promise to work at our love & always make you a priority in my life. With every beat of my heart,
I will love you.
