Here are some of our engagement pictures done by Kristy Photography in Lansing, MI! They were taken on MSU campus.
My mom picked up these napkins at Marshall's for really cheap for us to use for the reception:
I made these DIY signs for the reception that are going to hang on the back of our chairs. I haven't gotten the ribbon yet to string through the top of them, but you get the general idea:
Doug and I made these table signs for our reception based on cars that we really like. As a couple we really enjoy cars and watching the BBC show "Top Gear". We thought it would be very "us" if we incorporated this love into the wedding somehow, and this is how we decided to do it.
We also took a day and made these "send off" sticks that people will wave at the end of the ceremony (these things are SO cheap and easy to make!) and bubbles for people to blow. We will have half sticks and half bubbles.
For our honeymoon we originally wanted to go to a Sandals resort, but when we really thought about it, we felt we might get bored there. We decided to go to Walt Disney World instead. Personally, I have been to Disney World at least 25 times and I love it. I have been with Doug twice. We have never stayed together at one of the Deluxe resorts though, and Doug has always wanted to stay at the Polynesian Resort. We aren't going to go right after our wedding, but wait until the first week or so of May to go so that the weather is a bit better for laying out at the beach if we want to! We can't wait! I seriously think we are more excited about the honeymoon than we are about the weddding! (not that we aren't excited to get married, but we're more excited about starting our life together) We are going to spring for a theme park view so that we can relax in our hotel room at night and watch the Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. We are also excited about being that close to Lapu Lapus!! (They are a very very delicious alcoholic drink that is served in a pineapple and is incredibly strong but incredibly DELICIOUS! They only have them at the Polynesian and we always make sure that we stop and have at least one during our trips there) Here are some pictures.
We booked our cake baker today! This is the design that we decided on (I'm sorry, I can't remember who I got this picture from, if you see this let me know and I will credit you!)
Our cake will be square instead of round, and won't have any flowers on it. The design will start in one corner of the bottom square cake, and kind of wind itself up and around and end on top where our South Park look alike cake toppers will be. FI really picked out most of the design elements about the cake, and he's pretty excited about it. I can't wait to see what the finished product will look like!
Here is the sketch from the baker of what our cake will look like and a picture of the cake topper that we will have made to look like us:
These are the dresses that I am considering for bridesmaid dresses:
**UPDATE: I sent out a mass e-mail to all of my bridesmaids and finally got them to decide on a bridesmaid dress!! All of them had this Mori Lee as their 1st or 2nd choice, so yay! Now I just have to get them all together to order them and we will be all set! It will be in black and not the brown that is shown.
For their gifts I decided to get them earrings to go with their bridesmaid dresses, a little pack of tissues with their initial on them, a sachet that either says "Angel" or "Dream" and then each bridesmaid will have a little gift that is uniquely "her" (for example one of my bridesmaids really loves chinese food and so I got her a nice set of chopsticks in a really cute case) and then enclose it all in a lingerie bag that I found at the Victoria's Secret outlet for really cheap, and hanging on the bag will be a monogramed luggage tag.
This past weekend (Feb 27th) Doug's sister Jamie and his mom threw us an engagement party. We didn't really have much to do with the plans, except we told them we wanted a pizza and beer themed party. Here are some pictures of the event
