May 16th, 2009 - The Garden Pavilion Sonoma, CA
I prayed for no rain since May is the end of the rainy season in wine country, CA. Well, I sure got it! It was an unusual 95 degree day in Sonoma, perfect for a couple who met in hot Arizona 8 yrs earlier! It wasn't so perfect for our guests....but it was a magical day and a perfect evening in Sonoma for our wedding!
My FI and I met in college at the University of Arizona. We have been dating for almost 8 years now! I thought this day would never come! We currently live in West Los Angeles and have a dog, Wilma, who we love dearly. We picked Sonoma, CA as our wedding destination because we both used to live in San Francisco and we would escape the city many times during those years for trips to wine country. I think Sonoma/Napa is one of the most beautiful places in the US and I can't wait to get married there!
This picture is of Melissa Sweet Lia dress. I actually own the Marisa gown Style #726 in ivory. I couldn't find any great pics of the Marisa gown and the dresses are practically identical.
My FI did a very good job! He picked it out by himself. I didn't ask for a canary diamond, but was so very happy when I saw it. Yellow is my favorite color and it is the primary color for my wedding.
Nina Vasek Shoes
I wanted something that I could wear again and again. Found these on shoebuy.com for only $65 with free shipping.
These are both from etsy.com from Peterene Design. I haven't received them yet, but the yellow thai silk and ivory garter will be my toss away garter and the ivory vintage lace garter will be the one that I keep.
The Ceremony and Reception- The Garden Pavilion in Sonoma, CA:
I searched for a site for almost a year. I knew I wanted to get married in Sonoma or Napa, but everything was so expensive!! I found this place from a friend. The woman who owns it just started holding weddings again. Included in the site fee is our tables, chairs, parking, heaters, and 2 nights stay for the bride and groom at the quaint little pool house on site. Oh....we have the property for the whole week! We will be the only wedding that she has there during the week, so we have unlimited time to set up (but we have to be done by 10 pm) It's very wine "country" chic. When we viewed the property the first time, there were roosters crowing! I loved it!! She also has a small vineyard for pics after the wedding. It really had everything I was looking for.
This is where I need the most help yet. Florist is next on the list. I love hydrangeas and roses.
DIY Save the Date "Boarding Passes"
I found the template from a fellow "knottie," loridector, and developed these with the help of my FI. I loved the way these turned out.
